A proper diet is an essential aspect in the lives of people that makes it possible to lead healthy lives. An adequate diet not only delivers the vitamins and minerals the body requires other to function properly, but it also maintains the health of an individual in the long run excluding the chances of getting a chronic disease. Unfortunately, in the present society that has been characterized by lots of processed foods and unhealthily dietary habits, it is very important to understand the meaning and significance of balanced diet. I am engaging in this enlightening competition titled “Balanced Diet,” initiated by @suboohi, to discuss the idea of a balanced diet and its effects on our well-being.

A balanced diet means a nutritious ration which allows absorbing all the necessary nutrients in needed amount to stay healthy and it comprises of foods, the proteins, fats, vitamins, and minerals, in proportions, which can keep the body healthy. To me, it is not just how often we partake of it but what that food is were talking about here. Ensuring that fruits, vegetables, whole grain, protein, and fat are present, also ensures that body’s nutritional requirement is met fully. Balance is important and also there is no food which can provide the entire nutrients for human body. With regard to improved health and efficiently functioning body nutritious balanced food selected in concordance with a person’s requirements is crucial.

To my mind, diet is necessary and it affects our health in one way or another. Healthy diet sustains the body, increases energy levels, enhances immunity and plays a part in the general well-being of an individual. Regular taking of balanced diets prevent diseases such as diabetes, heart problems and obesity among other complications. On the other hand, if one indulges in unhealthy eating behaviors, he or she is likely to get exhausted, gain weight, and suffer from other health complications in the long run. I think that the balanced diet needs to be the basis of our existence, in order to stay healthy and have the same healthy state of mind.

In terms of health care, I believe in taking my everyday meals in form of fruits, vegetables, whole grains, lean meat/fish products and some fat. In this regard, I have espoused to the concept of natural foods, which are foods that are more natural and contain only the nutrients that are required in their natural state. Lots of vegetables assist in keeping up power, besides chicken fish and legumes are good for wellbeing of muscles. I also ensure that I take a lot of water besides abstaining from foods that are rich in sugar or any processed food.
Such a diet helps me maintain energy levels and a healthy look while following the regimen, it helps avoid a weight gain and contributes to my health in general. In order to maintain balanced diet and avoid deficiencies, I try to have everything in moderation and in combination.

In my opinion, I think that following balanced diets after pregnancy helped a lot in the process of losing weight that was gained during pregnancy. Instead of putting myself on a strict diet after delivery, I ensured that I took meals that were nutrient rich. In meals, I ensured I took many servings of fruits and veggies, taking moderate amounts of poultry, fish, and whole grains: oats, and brown rice among others. These were the foods that gave me strength that I needed together with keeping me longer with my meals.
I also focused on consuming a lot of water and attempting to not eat processed foods or sweets as they can hinder the rate of weight loss. Dividing the intake of food into small portions and taking them often prevented feelings of hunger while keeping the portions small enough to not overindulge. For the purpose of achieving my desired target of losing weight and regaining my post-pregnancy energy, it was always important to stick to balanced and healthy diet.
