Blog: Food in Malaysia
In recent years, although I spend most of my time in China, I get to visit my grandmother in Malaysia every 6 months due to cheap flight because Airasia from PEK to KUL is usually the cheapest you can get. (cost about 200USD including 20kgs checked in). I can't guarantee that it's comfortable though, it is a budget airline after all.
Besides the desire to visit loved ones, the strong urge to taste and devour scrumptious food is part of the motivation. I come home for this.
Note this is not padthai, although it looks similar, it is called Char Kuey Teow. I bought this at a food court where they also sell all kinds of food, but this, is the kind of food only available in Malaysia.
NoteYou can ask members of the Malaysian Team to recommend some of the good Char Kuey Teow spots in Kuala Lumpur or other cities
So Reena, China must have the similar food right?
China is big, let me focus on Beijing; and the answer is no. The consistency of noodles are different. Kuey Teownoodles is made of rice flour while most noodles in Beijing is made of wheat flour. The closest you can get to the South East Asian Kuey Teow is the He fen河粉, which I will featured in future post, so stay tuned to find out more =)

Looks yummy! Now I'm hungry lol Btw Upvoted :)
We have the same food in China. He fen is made of rice too. Actually I don't think Beijing is a good place to eat street food. Southern China is a real food heaven. I worked in Beijing for three years and felt so disappointed at food there.
=D I can't disagree this... food from southern china is heaven indeed
This looks exact the same as the Char Kuey Teows I had when I was visiting my Malaysian friend in Penang !
People say Penang has the most delicious Chinese foods in Malaysia.
=D yes it is. Penang is famous for it. Voting power low? haha, that is one of the reason i didn't post stuff sometimes. haha...
I couldn't recall when was the last time I had this. It's extremely good especially there's extra pork lard but it's also sinful at the same time haha. Nevertheless, I am glad that you like it!! :)
Countries in South East Asia do have mouth watering food right?? It is Awesomely Tasty!!!!
I have been living too healthy lately, oats, and greens. Makes me forgotten how much I love my home country's food! Luckily CNY is around the corner, may the sins begin!! hahahaha! I need fooddddd~
