Crypto Academy Season 3 | Homework Summary: Vortex Indicator Strategy
The sixth week of the Crypto Academy Season 3 has shown us yet another way to spot market reversals with a relatively simple strategy – vortex indicator (VI). The course was constructed to assess the elementary understanding of VI.
A total of 68 entries was reviewed. This is 161.5% more than the preceding period. Despite we were eager to see more participants perform the exercise, it is, however, pertinent to acknowledge the increase in submissions. The reduction in the level of practical exercises has paid off.
Sad to say, three cases of plagiarism were spotted. Although that makes up just 4.4% of the total submissions, it is still unfortunate given that we strive to attain 0% plagiarism. That said, we appreciate the time and effort of all those who honestly participated in the course. We thank you all for your hard work and determination.
For those who weren't able to participate, we hope to see you in the next class. Also, thanks to the Steemit Team for organizing an enabling environment for users to learn more about the crypto world.
What I Noticed
First and foremost, the number of unique entries is worth talking about. 95.6% of the total submissions were unique. Even so, the battle against plagiarism continues and sometime in the near future, we will attain 100% unique content again.
During the period under review, participants displayed their understanding of vortex indicator and how to spot trend reversals with the use of positive and negative VI trendlines. The vortex indicator (VI) seems to be a very promising technical analysis tool.
Moreover, the participants were also able to filter the signals of VI with the use of other indicators, such as; Moving Average Convergence Divergence (MACD), Bollinger Bands, and so on.
Average Score
The scatter plot below reveals a slight decrease in the average score of submissions:
The simple average score for submissions on #asaj-s3week6 tag stands at 6.19
The average score of participants dropped by 1.28% when compared to the previous time. Generally speaking, the average score falls within the safe zone.
Quick Recap
Here's a quick recap: participants were assessed based on the following tasks:
In your own words explain the vortex indicator and how it is calculated
Is the vortex indicator reliable? Explain
How is the vortex indicator added to a chart and what are the recommended parameters? (Screenshot required)
Explain in your own words the concept of vortex indicator divergence with examples. (Screenshot required)
Use the signals of VI to buy and sell any two cryptocurrencies. (Screenshot required)
In the homework post Vortex Indicator (VI) was explained alongside how it works, its configuration, buy and sell signal, and the divergence of the positive VI trendline and price action.
It was observed that the vast majority of participants completed the tasks.
Homework Statistics (S03 • W06)
Before we delve into the statistics of submissions let us take a quick look at how they are categorized.
Quality Scale
The homework task is grouped using the following scale:
- Distinction: 8 to 10
- Good: 6.6 to 7.9
- Average: 5 to 6.5
- Below Average: 0 to 4.9
With that in mind, let's analyse the grades of entries.
Grade Analysis
Of the 68 entries, 13 participants made a distinction, 17 did a good job, 31 had an average performance, 4 did below average, and 3 plagiarism cases were reported. Here is a bar chart that depicts this information:
Furthermore, the doughnut chart below presents the data in percentage.

Post of the Week
A wrestle of thoughts took place during the selection of three articles out of the numerous quality submissions. By that, I mean it wasn’t as simple as it seems. Remember the academy promotes healthy competition that seeks to improve the quality of participation.
Note: So long as you participated in the assignment you are a winner. Maybe not today, but someday you will be. We hope this encourages you to work harder in order to earn a spot in the post of the week. Now, here are the homework posts of the week (August 2nd to 7th):

Final Words
At the end of the day, it isn’t all about what you know but how well you express yourself. The mode of delivery is just as important as the knowledge you choose to deliver. Using complicated words often does not yield the best results. The primary purpose of communication is to express, not impress.
Hence, we encourage you to organize your work in a logical format and use simple terms to express yourself. You do not have to copy anyone. Be yourself! Don’t say that because one user answered a question in a certain way so you must do the same. No! Be yourself and your work will stand out.
We are building a community that fosters engagement through educative content. Like every successful community, it takes collective effort and cooperation. Remember that no one is perfect, we all need correction (myself included) to become better. So let us learn together.
Thank you Professor @asaj. I am glad I participated in your class. You teach simply and that makes your course great.
