Wet But Never Dreary

This photograph of Boscastle, North Devon, posed an interesting conundrum.

At first sight I thought, it's not good enough for the photo contest. It's too grey. But then, when I looked closely I saw that it is an accurate representation of Boscastle on the particular day it was shot. It WAS grey. It was raining.

I'm not sure if I'm correct but I'm assuming that most people are more drawn to sunny photos. I know I'm more likely to notice something with blue skies in my feed than something grey looking.

I really like this photo, the more I look at the detail of it - the little people walking along the path, the contrast of the colour of the boat, but it takes a bit of effort. It wouldn't jump out at me in a feed of other photos.

What about you? Do you prefer bright and sunny or are you OK with grey and moody?
