Hard at Work, Adding Some Style To My Man Cave.steemCreated with Sketch.

in #blog7 years ago

For a while now I have been wanting to make some changers to my man cave.

I had all the interest in making it something spacial but other things have got in the way like kids, bill and gardening.

I took the opportunity today to make a start in making my man cave more me and with the intermittent rain it made it easier for me to get down and dirty.

The first job was to go out and get some pallets, this is something I do for all my projects that I do, as I am a pallet wood maniac.

I stopped at a few of my normal places to get some and I left happy as they had all that I needed to do the job.

I had to take them apart, but I have got a nack now and I can take a pallet apart with no breaks in the wood in about 7 minutes.

I then had to cut the wood to size but using a chop saw this made it so much easier.

My man cave is a mess as I have been working on other things and been a lazy git I hadn't tidied it up, hehe.

I made some cuts in some wood, drilled some holes and plugged them, It was then all about adding the slats to the wall.

This took me more that 5 hours to get this wood panelling right as I didn't want to get the cuts wrong.

I have always been taught that you measure something 3 times and only cut it once.

Plus it took a little bit of more time as my kids are off school for the holidays and they kept asking me for a drink or something to eat, even though my wife was already in the kitchen, Apparently the way I pour the water out of the tap tastes better than mums.

Once the panels were on the walls it was all about packing the back of it, as I didn't want it to bow in the middle, with having all the wood I need I was able to put plenty of wood behind to give it strength.

I only managed to finish the one wall as a neighbour came out to me at 9pm and asked me to stop drilling.

I would have got it all done if it hadn't been for him asking me to stop as he had to go to bed. who goes to bed at 9pm these days, hehe.

Tomorrow I should have got the cladding done. I can't wait to get this done as I am needing a place to make some crafts and other things as it drives my wife up the wall when I do it at the table. :D
