We all sent him our feelings of love. Affected by Hettie, we had followed him outside and had felt our hearts swell with his love for his wife. He had made a Cherinian sacrifice.

“Why…how can you?”
“Will you give me your hand in friendship Edward?”
“But...”
“Oh I know you will carry on needling me, but perhaps it will not be with bitterness anymore?”
Our Eddie gave him an understanding grin. “For nearly two centuries you have manipulated the most powerful men of your world and they were like puppets in your hands and now this young foolish man offers you his love and you are left speechless?”
“He has manipulated me?”
“Of course. He never intended letting you go.”
He turned to me with a grim look and gave me his hand. “Robert, I promise I will make you pay!” I hid my thought that he almost sounded as my wives sometimes do.
“I hope so.” Laughing I pulled him to me and gave him a hug.
This important moment called for a celebration, plus we also have to do something for the twins, Alexis and Nicole, and Laura as a joint birthday party so I called up our favourite club. The owner took the call himself.
“Mr Teller, it is a Friday evening, we are already fully booked up. I am most sorry, I would have enjoyed having you here. My daughters have been asking to meet your…ladies again.”
“Do you have extra tables and chairs?”
“I do not understand.”
“The space you use in Summer, could we use that? We would need chairs and tables, do not worry about the heating, we will provide that. If your musicians are willing to spend some time with us it will be appreciated. Please reassure them they will not be cold nor will their pockets be empty. One other thing. We are in a mood to celebrate and I know my ladies would be glad for the company of your daughters.”
As I closed the phone, Em-e and Bernie pretended to dance around as they laughingly called out, ‘we are his ladies’ in sing-song voices.
“You want to be my ladies you better go have a shower and dress up. Come on, chop-chop!”
A thought struck me and impulsively I decided to go ahead. I asked Dommi to handle it without letting the others know what I was up to. Candy had also listened in and she put her little hand in mine.
“I want to come with.”
“He might not be there love, it might be a waste of time.”
“I don’t care.”
We jumped. He was not at home, but I saw the plates on his table and the wine bottle. I looked out the window and saw him walking away. I looked ahead for a quiet spot and jumped again.
“Officer, would you mind breaking the law and coming with us for a night of celebration?”
“Ahh! It is you Roberto? What are you doing here? Your problems are over?”
“The ones I had then, yes, then I had my next one and that is over now, and we are all going out to celebrate. You are not on duty tonight?”
“I was going to friends for cards.”

“Then please come with us. See, I have even brought with a young lady who wishes to dance with you.”
Gravely he extended his hand. “It would be my pleasure bella signorita. May I ask your name?”
“It is Candy. Well, I’m really a Wendy, but I can’t be a Wendy because there already is a Wendy, so I am Candy.”
“You have been well named then, for you truly are as sweet as candy.”
“How is the little girl Sylvestro?”
“She is well. She remembers you and tells everyone an angel came with a gold light shining out of him and made her well.”
“Sylve..stro, he is like an angel isn’t he?”
“Yes he is, though I prefer little angels that look pretty like you.” He looked at me. “And where is this celebration Roberto?”
“Athens, Greece.”
“But how can we go there? Tonight you say?”
“Will you trust me and give me your hand?”
He knew from Aganthi what it meant, but he saw Candy give me her hand so he did so too, though I felt the fear in him because of the large distance.
“Shit! Sorry Candy. Sylvestro, everyone will be dressed with a jacket. Would you rather go home first to change?
It made more sense to jump from within his home anyway where no one could happen to see us. As we arrived at our home in Athens he sank to his knees in terror. I had anticipated this and arrived in one of our guest bedrooms. I did not have a chance to soothe him, for Candy went to him.
“It is real scary the first times. I thought I had peed in my panties.” He quickly looked down and tried to cover it with a grin.
“Did you?”
“No, that’s only for babies. I’m big!”
“Sylvestro, you remember me talking about my family? I would like you to meet them. Candy, can you bring them here, one at a time please. First Cherine.”
“Roberto, we are in Greece?”
“At my home in Athens. Don’t worry, this is only your first time, you will soon be jumping here whenever you wish.”
He shook his head in wonder, sinking to sit on the bed and had to jump up again as Cherine entered with Candy.
“Sylve..stro, this is Cherine, our numero uno wife of Robert.”
“Candy! That was not quite the introduction I had in mind! You’ve shocked him.” Dazed he kissed her hand, muttering something polite. He looked at me. “I’m afraid so, she is my wife and you will be meeting our daughter just now.”
“Daughter!!” He sounded sick and I saw he was in shock.
“Cherine, get out and return as my wife please.” She understood and ran out. She was back within minutes. He stared at her, not recognising who she is, just stunned by her beauty.
“Sylvestro, this is Cherine my wife.”

He took her hand and kissed it again. “Enchanted Signora. You did not tell me your wife is so beautiful Roberto. You were playing a trick on me earlier? That was your daughter?”
“Why Sylvestro!? Do I look old enough to be a father of a girl that age?” I had him puzzled again as I do not look older than eighteen.
“Sylvestro, you must prepare yourself for a shock. I promise explanations will be given to you when we return tonight, there isn’t time right now. The girl you saw earlier and this lovely lady, they are both the same. Cherine, he will not believe unless he sees. Can you hold your dress to you and become about twelve years old?”
She did so and he crossed himself.
“Sylvestro, that little girl I healed, why is it you could accept that miracle and you believed in my Aganthi, but now you fear me because of something unimportant like this?”
“I thought you had the gift, but this is unn...it is supernatural!!”
“We are normal people with many gifts. Sylvestro, please just enjoy what you see, leave your fears for tomorrow. May my other wives come to meet you now?”
“You told the truth? You have many wives?”
“Some say too many, though it never feels that way for me! By the way, I regret I did not introduce Candy correctly. She is my fiancé, we are to be married shortly.”
“But she is only four, five? Ahh! Mama mia! You are joking with me.”
“I am enjoying this Cherine. He really shows his shock.”
“You are not being fair to him Robert. It is not the way to treat someone who helped you when you were alone.”
“No, no, signora, he did far more for me! Let him play his games, it is good to see him happy. When I met him I felt a big sadness in him.”
“Sylvestro, I have many wives. The eldest is Dommi, she is the only adult, even though she looks about sixteen. The others, their real ages range from fourteen down to a few months old. We are getting ready to go out to celebrate and they all want to dance and have fun so they are coming as eighteen to twenty year olds. Except for one special little girl. Candy, will you bring Aganthi in please?”
This time Candy returned as an eighteen year old, holding the hand of Aganthi who only looked about twelve.
“Sylve..stro, this is Aganthi.”
He did not even turn to look at her, his eyes glued to Candy. “You are Candy?”
She giggled and he knew. He could not help himself and sank back on to the bed. I grinned at him.
“So, what do you think. If you met her like this, would you marry her?”
“What!? Oh, like this, yes. Yes!”
“When I walked through Italy and slept in fields and had no food, I would wake up in the morning and find some bread, cheese, an onion, tomato and a little bottle of aqua minerale. This sweet wife of mine had disobeyed my orders. She left the safety of our home so as to trail me and make sure I survived. After she left you and Helena - Sophia, she followed me all the way down into Africa. I found her in Tanzania on a farm!! This is my girl with the big brave heart.”
He hugged her and told her that the girl she helped, Sophia, is doing well with her foster parents and then he said to me, “A strong face too, beautiful and with character. You are a very lucky man Roberto. The police have not arrested you yet?”
I pretended to misunderstand him. “They did in Italy - or were about to, I’ll tell you the story later. All the Cherinians are waiting outside with my other wives to meet you.”

Gia ton seismo - ksero pos aisthanthikes kai einai tromaktiko. Fantazome oti o mikros tha fovithike. Eimoun stin Athina otan egine o proigoumenos seismos, pou pesane ktiria kai pethanane gyro sta 30 atoma. Θυμάμαι την έκπληξή μου βλέποντας τους τοίχους να κουνιούνται και ένιωσα σαν να με μετακινούσαν πρός την βεράντα (η πόρτα ήταν ανοιχτή). Οι τοίχοι που κουνιόντουσαν σαν να είναι φτιαγμένα από κάτι μαλακό ήταν τόσο εκπληκτικό που ξέχασα να φοβηθώ. Ήμουν στον 4ο όροφο, οπότε μπορώ να φανταστώ πόσο χειρότερα θα ήταν στον 6ο όροφο.

Since the alt Hettie and Eddie are now becoming Cherinians, I imagine Robert was showing tact by not writing of them, since it must feel like they are on their honeymoon, now that they are young and have their own bodies again.
As for our Eddie and Hettie...I will not be spoiling the story by telling you that Hettie plays a bigger role than Eddie and she works to help the Cherinians, doing all the kind of work that Robert does not like doing. For a better explanation, you'll have to wait until it happens...
