Hidden London - Cannizaro Park: June 20 2020
We drove up to Wimbledon and went to a place called a Cannizaro Park, behind an old mansion of a Cannizaro House. This used to be a stately home with a park attached to it but it is now a luxury hotel, and the park is open to the public.
It isn't particularly big, but looks like a setting for Alice in Wonderland
There are lots of flowers, and also a small pond with ducks and baby ducklings
There is also a "woodland" area with paths criss-crossing it, looks like enchanted forest from a fairytale
Kids had their snack and I grabbed a coffee - their lovely café was open for takeaways.
There is also a beautiful herb garden where we picked some herbs which smelled lovely (no idea what they are called!)
The reason I called it hidden is because I don't know anyone who knows about this place apart from the locals, and the only reason we know about it is because we lived in Wimbledon for several years back in the noughties, and it is also not that easy to find, but anyone visiting London wishing to travel here would experience English countryside without leaving the city.
