Hey! Did you know that the newest collection of Arsenic Lullaby comics is in the Diamond Dist. Previews catalog? The catalog that all the comic book stores order from? The same distributors catalog that includes Spider-Man, Batman and all the other fine comics people love? Did you know that you and your local comic book store can order that collection now?!

If you didn't, don't feel bad...I DIDN'T EITHER.

I found out when a comic book store posted about it and tagged me...yesterday. I believe the catalog comes out on the first of the month. It's Nov.13th.

So that's fun.

At this point you'd expect me to bitch about Diamond, like many others do. However there are two entities in the comic book industry I really don't gripe about, one is Comic-Con International and the other is Diamond Distribution. I don't bitch because I understand the colossal, nigh impossible logistical challenge they meet on a regular basis. Diamond, for instance has to deal with around 300 companies, receive and ship around 1500 different items to around 2000 different comic book stores every...single...month.

Their catalog has around 400 pages in it...every...single...month.

So if letting me know when my book is in it fell through the cracks, who am I of all people ( the king of forgetting to send a follow up email) to gripe that I didn't get a follow up email.

I'll walk you through the process, briefly. You might find it interesting. I sends in my info on the collection I'd like distributed by them and it turns out my old brand manager is no longer with the company. Two different people step forward to help as there is a little confusion as to who exactly will be handling me going forward. One take all the info and sends it up the chain for standard review. New entities get reviewed because pretty much everyone publishing a comic book is going to want to go through Diamond and their catalog is already hundreds of pages long. This is a business and they need to discern brands that'll actually make a few bucks from well intentioned, but clueless and talentless wanna be's who saw a bunch of MCU movies and said "imma make a comic called - Sargent America...he'll have a square shield though, make me famous".

I'm guessing all my info/history got lost in the shuffle when the old guy left. I wasn't particularly concerned about the "review" since Arsenic Lullaby has been nominated for several awards, been published in three languages, had stories converted to animates shorts seen on Comedy Central, and seen in Mad Magazine. Only a complete moron would not be able to tell that Arsenic Lullaby is , to make an understatement, legit. BUT, these reviews take time as that is a long line to stand in.

Typically this means I have a month or two before they get back to me, then we figure out which month to put it in the catalogue.

Fast forward to yesterday, when thanks to a post from a comic book store, I see that it is in the catalog NOW. And thus has been the whole month.

That's a problem. That gives me like two weeks to promote it. I spent two months promoting the issue of The Tick I was the illustrator on.

You'd expect me to complain but...honestly I'm more impressed that two different people jumped up to help and they were so damn efficient. Probably the focus was on getting the thing through the required hoops and person one thought person two would let me know the outcome and visa versa. Who knows, and there's no time to cry over split milk.

One the other hand...nah...I don't have time. I've got 6 weeks less time than normal to get the word out.

So...fellow steemians, any help you can provide spreading the word on this, here or any other platform or just going to your local store and demanding they order your copy...would be a BIG help. You've been following me long enough to know that I work as hard as I can to put out good stuff, and this book is good stuff.

FYI Diamond does not just handle U.S. Sales, it handles the UK and NZ and Australian, probably parts of the EU...not sure where else
