I Need Your Help

I will start my study in a week, and for that, I want to buy a tablet for note taking. I am currently looking at the Microsoft Surface Pro as I can both write notes and draw which is important. I'm not that much into tech, so my first question would be;

- What is the best tablet for note taking (writing and drawing)?

Budget?

My budget is max 1300-1500 $ for everything. Tablet, keyboard, pen etc.

I bourght the cheapest Lenovo laptop resently at Elgiganten ($200 or something like that)... it works perfectly with ubuntu... had to tweak it, it was a little slow before tweaking. (tweaking requires time and skills)... so maybe a $500 lenovo can do the job... I dont know about pen or thinks like that... I just use a laptop...

I just bought the ASUS Q534 i believe is the numbers this is a great laptop and it is a 2 in1 so you can fold it to a tablet and you can also buy a pen for it so that makes it easy to take notes. I bought it for $999 at best buy. check it out it has i7 processor 16GB RAM nvidea 950 graphics card it has both a ssd and a standard hard drive so it boots fast but also has 1TB of storage. programs run on the SSD and files get saved to the 1TB.

Sounds very interesting. Thanks :)

I’m not sure your take on Apple products and all the recent news about batteries and all that stuff in the media, but I do love Apple products and I’ve had great luck with them most of them lasting a long time and only being disfuctional because of my own careless mistakes.

So me being biased I would highly recommend the new IPad Pro ( depending on the size, it’ll still be well under your budget ) between 600-800 USD.

I would then get ( Goodnotes ) for your every day notes etc.. it is a little extra expensive but in the long run I think it’ll be 100% worth the money spent.

I’ve had a few friends who have used the Asus Memo Pad and they’ve been completely satisfied with it as well, but again from my view and my experience id have to go with the IPad Pro!

Let me know if you got any questions regarding the new IPad!

Thanks for the great answer. Will I be able to write notes/draw etc with a pen on the Ipad Pro?

Yea unfortunately it is not cheap.. but depending on the size of the IPad and then purchasing ( Goodnotes ) and then ( Pen 99$ ) is still going to be well under your budget for how much you’re will to spend and long term I truly think it’s a good good investment and you’d be satisfied.

But I’ll love to know with what device you choose to go in the end.

Congrats! You made the best and most informative comment. I will upvote with 100 % on a few of your posts instead of sending you 5 SBD. Don't have my password near me :D

Hey no worries man! I honestly completely forgot about it but I appreciate it anyways. Thank @arsenal49

I've been thinking of getting a Lenovo Yoga Book.

https://www.cnet.com/products/lenovo-yoga-book/preview/

Its a tablet with a hinged trackpad that can be used both as a surface to draw on (I always find this easier than drawing on a screen itself) and a backlit keyboard. So you basically get a laptop and a graphics tablet-style device in one. It has a really good screen and is also pretty inexpensive (about $350 on Amazon).

I would also recommend the Lenovo yoga book, I switched from an iPad to a Lenovo tablet a few years ago and have been loyal to Lenovo ever since. From my experience the battery life is way better than any others so if you will be taking it anywhere you won't have access to a socket then it will be a better choice than a Surface.

Another point in favour of Lenovo, my 3 year old niece threw mine out of a second story window and apart from a small cluster of cracks in the top corner it survived and is in full working order. So they are pretty durable too.

I would like to draw directly on the screen, is that possible?

Yes, its a touchscreen device as well.

Why not just go with pen & paper? Not saying it's better (probably you have your reasons to choosing a hi-tech solution), just wondering... Because I can't stand taking notes on a screen. Doesn't feel the same.

I agree, but I will take a ton of notes, so I have to search for keywords, tables etc.

Go to your local electronic store and test them out

I will do that, but it's always better to get a review from people who have the product.

Asus ZenBook UX310UA,
Thin and light design
Good performance
SSD/hard disk combination
Very low starting price
2.5-3.1GHz dual-core Intel Core i7-6500U with Hyper-Threading

8GB DDR4 RAM
13.3-inch 3,200x1,800-pixel screen
256GB SSD and 500GB hard disk

1.45kg

You should try MacBook Air, which is both better for note taking and drawing.

You should definitely go for the Google Pixelbook, it is absolutely amazing for note taking.

It has full support for android apps so you could even get the eSteem app on their!

It matches all top laptops for speed but ultimately for note taking, there's nothing better on the market, Its stylus support is second to none, and it's keyboard is amongst the best you'll ever use.
