Steemit made simple for newbies and the rest!

in #steemit8 years ago

There are plenty of new users who are gullible who are excited about learning more about Steemit. However there are certain things which can confuse all new users on Steemit, like:

  • What is blockchain?
  • What is Steem or SBD?
  • Follow for follow?
  • Didn't Bernie Sanders lose to Hillary?
  • I just made a post, why haven't I got any money yet?
  • Who the f**k is "curator" and why is he taking all my money?

Blockchain, also known as "Bloke chain"

Blockchain is a confusing word. They are saying all cryptocurrencies are basically based on blockchains, but the simpler word for it is bloke chain. It means we are all in this together, blokes (who can be women too) are supporting each other and making things work.

The term bloke chain comes when Steemit as a social media brings all of us blokes together to enjoy our life. Thus explaining the term "bloke chain", which represents us being hand in hand together, forming a chain over all the continents of the world.

What is the difference of Steem and SBD?

The biggest difference is, that Steem is the word included in "Steemit", so it is the bigger thing. SBD is shorter though, so it's easier to use. There are many opinions on what "SBD" represents, and I'm calling it Super Big Dick. The more SBD's you collect, the better your life is. That's why price of SBD has been going up, as having a "SBD" increases your life quality more than any amount of money.

However Steem is handy on Steemit, as it is basically part of "STEEMit". Something about SP and SBD being worth $1 but it's not important.

Follow for follow

Follow for follow is also known as the standard newbie style. I can tell you one thing, nothing is more impressive than following someone only because they follow you. And if you gain a bunch of followers because you follow others, it's really impressive.

All the users with power can see "This person has zero value content with no originality or quality, but he's following 45 000 people and has equal amount of followers. I bet he's so awesome, I'll drop him a $100 upvote!"

I'm quite sure this is how it works.

Didn't Bernie Sanders lose to Hillary?

It might appear like that, but as we can see, Hillary lost to Trump and got really sad. Bernie just took his whale and ran off to Steemit to become one of the most known personalities of Steemit.

I'm assuming he is like The Phantom, living in a skull shaped cave in the jungle, giving people either his good sign or the bad sign, the symbol of the skull.

I just made a post, why haven't I got any money yet?

Oh no, it must be the evil cryptocurrency gremlins stealing your money. The best option is to shout as loud as you can while you write your next post. This should scare the gremlins away and let you keep your money.

If you still are not earning any money, shout louder and bang a kettle with a ladle. It has usually worked really well for me.

The easiest option is to sing along to Finnish popular music, which is depressing enough for any gremlin to leave you alone and start drinking too much.

Who the f**k is "curator" and why is he taking all my money?

Curator is the big brother of cryptocurrency gremlin. There are some strict rules on Steemit and one of them is that curator can be evil and steal away up to 25% of your post rewards! That is horrible, after all the good work you have done. This rule was set when Steemit was originally created and the curators helped Steemit to thrive at start.

You can still see some people talking about how important curators are, but you can skip those. They are usually actually curators themselves writing these posts. They should not be taken seriously.

Curators are hairy, humanoid creatures which have short snouts and long hair growing from behind the ears. Curators mostly eat small rodents in the nights, but due to Steemit growing popular, curators have gained access to easy money from newbie users.

The best way to distract curator is following these simple steps:

  1. Start the post with an photo of a mouse (or a hamster)
  2. Write three times "There is a mouse/hamster behind your window" below the picture
  3. Then quickly write the post you were planning to write
  4. Finish the post with the words "There was no mouse/hamster, I was smarter than you, leave my post rewards alone"

This is a method of keeping the curator away from your post rewards.

If you still lose your post rewards to the curator, you wrote the post too slow. Sorry.

He there lovely @apsu!
Thanks for making this tutorial for us newbies. Even though I have been her for 3 weeks now, this just clarifies thing so much. Thanks for all the effort on the chat btw! you are of great help <3

Fucking hysterical! And if i get no votes on a post, i figured it was cause it sucked eggs! You're still talking bout Bernie? There's now IT girl Kamala i believe is her name. Robert Kennedy Jr., and even Oprah all being talked about as potential candidates. Ohhh and to be 30 again! I loved 30! 30s are a blast! Well, i had a blast anyways! Ty for tge humor! I be smilin!😆

Thanks, you should try to learn from this. You can be a great author, but if all these evil gremlins and such steal your profits then you'll lose.

I didn't think much about Bernie, but you know we have a somewhat famous user named @berniesanders on Steemit? I'm 75% sure he's not actually the Bernie Sanders who wanted to be the president. ;)

But who knows...

Ok...so I'm a traumatic brain injury survivor and can't always understand what ppl are trying to imply. Could you elaborate a bit on the evil Gremlins? Ty

Well luckily I know this, so please just tell me any time you do not understand something I'm saying :)

The evil gremlins are a joke mentioned on the post. Not a real thing, luckily, but something to blame on if you don't get high payouts.

Ahh ok. I figured it takes time and "building" up to reach high payouts and I think the term high payout is subjective as what is considered low for one person could be considered high for another.

Well it is truly subjective and I appreciate your attitude.

Thanks ☺️

This is so funny...
Yes, some things are very obvious with new members, but I think majority learns the ropes really fast.

Thanks for the tips @apsu! I’ve really been confused on how to handle my stash of SBD’s, any tips on how to get more Ⓜ️onies?
Thanks,
@ahmedelakehal

You're welcome. The best tip to get more money is to find some oil on land you own or either a really big diamond.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the advice! Will be looking for oil and diamonds in the future :).

steemit it's great can used by everyone♥♥

And it can be used in good ways or bad ways. Please, read the posts you are commenting on, especially if you will self-upvote your comment. Some people treat comments unrelated to the posts as spam and will flag the comments.

You will not go too far with self-upvoting, especially not when upvoting the comments. Try to find content by other people you like and upvote them :)

That's a thing which can make someone happy.

So I thought upvoting everyone who makes a comment helps them. Am I wrong?

Well upvoting someones comment IS helping them, but if someone upvotes their own comments as @venox did, it is most usually seen as greedy.

We all have limited Voting Power so wasting it all on yourself is a bad habit for some.

I have been upvoting everyone on entries I like and commented on including my own. I have since quit upvoting my own and only upvote others.

Hahaha
I like the fourth point "Didn't Bernie Sanders lose to Hillary?"

U skill at trolle. Very nice. Much appreciated.

Really! what is the story of Bernie Sanders here? He is making lots of enemy and his reputation score is also negative.
