Today We Helped Revive A Bird!
Today, we helped revive a bird that hit our window! It flew right into our window and lay outside for a few seconds stunned. I was glad we were there to hear it so we could run out and help pep it back up.
I have heard the best thing to do if a bird hits the window is pick it up and try to keeps its eyes open! This guy did not want to stay awake. One of his legs was not even working for a few minutes, but we kept moving him around!
When it hit the window, we thought it was a huge hummingbird (not a hummingbird - not sure what it is)! I mean, check out that massive beak!

I loved all of the feathers and spots all over the bird. It was so soft and light. What a pretty bird!

After a few minutes, he was trying to close his eyes and I took him from my daughter. He snapped out of it and flew out of our hands! It was pretty cool to watch him fly away! We were all jumping up and down and celebrating that we had helped revive a poor bird!

Wow, not often we get the chance to see such a friend upclose and personal. Good you guys managed to revive him. I didnt know to be honest that you have to keep them moving to keep them awake. Good life lessons here!
Yes, I didn't know that either until a friend told me. We have a room that is all glass and we've had at least 4 birds do this that we were able to revive. If they hit and then lay on the ground for too long, they go into shock and die. If we can move them around before they go into shock, they will revive and fly away. The kids were begging to keep this one.

Ever considered getting these kind of stickers? We used to have them on a big window and it really helps
It has birds on it? That's pretty interesting. We have about 20 full length glass windows in our living room for the amazing view of the volcano. I'm thinking my hubs would veto the bird stickers. ;)
Yeah the birds think that there are 'more dangerous' birds there because of the silouets, so they stay away from there. Works like a charm and isnt ugly!
Would not be a bad idea with all those windows :)

Pretty sure he isn't a hummingbird. But he had such a long beak when we first saw him, we thought he was! Not sure what kind of bird it is. Alive!
what a shame that bird he must be in pain when he crash into your window, so his feet can not move, you have done a good thing today for helping the bird so that he can fly again!
Yeah, I think they almost go into shock. He had one leg working and the other was curled up. After a few minutes, the second one started working, but he still kept wanting to close his eyes. We just kept moving him around and soon he woke up and realized he was holding onto a HUMAN FINGER and not a tree branch! AHHH! He was out of there! Lol
