The Road To Steemfest 4 | Budgetting

An important topic to think about when attending Steemfest: budget

As soon as the date for Steemfest 4 was announced I started making a plan to save up cash in different ways, not only earnings from my posts, but all sorts of micro fundings that would not put a high pressure on it if one thing wasn't going to succeed. Unfortunately, my needed budget will be a lot bigger than only cost of the Steemfest ticket, and also includes a pretty expensive plane ticket from Budapest to Bangkok. Add to that the accommodation and some money to spend in Bangkok so I can at least join the ladies to do some real partying, right @misslasvegas @mumma-monza? (Sorry if I didn't tag you, all the ladies are welcome lol).

I'm not too worried about the budget for the accomodation (I booked that right after the announcement, but didn't pay it yet), and also not worried about the money to spend in Bangkok, as I think it might be cheaper than Budapest. I was worried that I might also need an expensive visa.. But then I remembered that @misslasvegas mentioned having a Dutch passport is one of the best to have in the world when it comes to getting visas. So I looked it up and when you hold a Dutch passport you can enter with the visa exemption rule. Some rules apply of course, but isn't that always the case?

The financial status 3 months before Steemfest

To be honest, I envisioned it a bit more positive a few months ago. Where there's real life, there's also real problems sometimes, and because of a miscommunication on both my boyfriend and his managers side, there was a not so nice surprise of costs that couldn't be declared according to policy when he came back from a business trip. Sucks big time, because that's more than 100 euro down the drain, which I really hate. But I moved on, it is what it is and we can't change it anyway. And so there were other things as well, not worth mentioning but the earnings haven't been too high on my side during the summer due to all kinds of reasons. Either way, I still refuse to give up on Steemfest in Bangkok, because I know a LOT can happen in my favour just in a few days. Nothing is impossible, and who knows, maybe tomorrow I get hired for something that pays well... It's a challenge, but I have faced much harder challenges so:

I wish I had a crystal ball to see what the next months will bring

On one hand I wish I could have a look into the future, to see how I will manage to raise funds the next months.

On the other hand, not knowing what will come on my path, and what opportunities I will find, makes it exciting as well. I always love when an opportunity to make money crosses my path, and it would be kind of boring to know all of them on forehand, right? What's exciting about that? Plus there will be plenty of opportunities to also win tickets for Steemfest and maybe even accommodation in the next months...

Double challenge writing daily on two accounts

I did challenge myself to write a post every single day to get the 30 day challenge badge from Steemitboard, I actually double challenged myself because I'm also doing the same on my Steemmonster content related account @anouk.nox.spt. So far so good, and needless to say probably, but if you feel like sponsoring my road to Steemfest a tiny bit with upvotes, you're more than welcome to visit both profiles.

That's it for now Steemians, until next time! Thanks @anomadsoul and @blocktrades for always doing these awesome giveaways!

and dance we will like no one is watching!!

I'm not good with budgeting. I like to fly by the seat of my pants and deal with the spending repercussions after! You know, live like a queen for a fortnight and then frugal the next fortnight.

Thank god Bangkok is sooooo affordable!! Cheap food, cheap drinks, cheap shopping, and Thai massages!!!

Oh yeah I'm soooo looking forward to those thai massages as well..
And normally I have everything sorted out, I really learned how to budget very well when we literally had nothing to spend for 6 months and needed to live by being creative.. But in that situation we only had to make sure we stayed alive (food, and hydrate lol) because without income bills couldn't be paid anyway .. Now I'm always making sure bills are paid right away, and after that I make a budget of what's left but there has been a few unwelcome costs lately.. But thankfully, on the other hand, I upped my posting game recently, and I also have some sideways to earn some money as well.. I'm staying confident that I'll be there in November!

Seeee yaaaa there!

At least you've paid for some of it upfront!

There's always a credit card of course, lots of interest free days kicking about, and some give you a couple of years to pay it off.

I just got lucky with the opposite scenario to your bf expenses, my tax bill came in a couple of thousand dollars shy of what I expected, mind you half of that is going to SF4, which gives you an idea of the overall expense.

It is pricey, but I look at it as a five week holiday, so all in, not too bad!

Creditcard is one that I need to pay every month, so that one will only be used in the end (probably) for the daily costs of the travel. I don't want to use more of that card than I need to..

That's great that you got lucky, we have been thinking we were lucky for more than a year now when it comes to Dutch taxes (re-calculations from several years in our favor) but so far every time we have received a letter with you get x back (a lot!), it's always been swiped away afterwards .. so then suddenly there was another thing unpaid .. we have been going back and forward with them since last year, and I still have hope the outcome will be my road to steemfest :)

Can't lose hope and faith :)

Totally can relate to this... Refuse to give up on Steemfest in Bangkok! Yes, same here... Working hard to make it happen! A crystal ball would certainly be a good thing to have now... I wish I have one too... 😂
All the best and let's make it happen!
