OCDB - State of the Curation Rewards + Downvotes

in #ocdb5 years ago

It's been almost two months since the Hardfork 21-22 happened, we got the SPS and the EIP and along with those changes to how out blockchain works, we got 25% free downvotes and our Curation reward doubled from 25% to 50% (at least theoretically).

With these changes on our blockchain, the way @ocdb operated also changed drastically. We started to fully curate manually, we began to use our downvoting power and the payment to our delegators went through some tweaks.

Payment of Curation rewards to our delegators

At the moment, 85% of all the Curation rewards OCDB generates, is transferred directly to our delegators, 5% is powering side projects (EG: Gods Unchained raffles) and we are keeping 10% for the curators doing all the manual curation with this account.

OCDB has always operated on the basis of giving our delegators the daily curation rewards right after the account receives them. As you may know already, all the curation rewards arrive to any given account in form of locked down Steem Power.

This means that we have to constantly feed the OCDB account with liquid steem. This liquid has to comes from my personal stake, post rewards and part of my @ocd-witness stake (which we are constantly powering down in order to keep feeding OCDB) alongside some buy orders I filled a few days ago.

All of this just to be able to keep our delegators with their daily curation rewards and thus, them not having to wait 13 weeks for us to transfer the stake.

Curation rewards transfers to our delegators will take a bit longer, but rest assured they will arrive safe and sound

At the moment of writing this post, we currently don't have any more liquid Steem to keep feeding OCDB in order to keep our delegators' payments up to date.

As most of you know, not acidyo nor me are Crypto whales or even Steem whales, we started as minnows on Steem and unfortunately we literally ran out of liquid steem for ocdb (After more than a year of feeding it more than 80k liquid Steem).

We currently have @ocdb and @ocd-witness at full power down. The OCDB power down is meant to keep the weekly delegators' payments going - while the Curation rewards grow at a faster rate - making OCDB grow in SP faster than it powers down, making the account bigger every week. In the meantime, we are refreshing the power down every week so eventually, we will catch up with the weekly payments. The OCD-Witness power down is meant to help OCDB with liquid every week to aid its growth and catch up at a faster rate rather than slowly from the power down vs curation rewards growth.

TL;DR - Your Curation Rewards will arrive, don't worry, they'll just take a little bit longer to do so

In the meantime, to reassure you it's all accounted for, you can check out our website Thegoodwhales.io and keep an eye on the column pending payout to know how much you're due to receive every time we feed liquid Steem to OCDB.

Downvotes OR how manual curation is a thing on Steem AGAIN

Most former bidbots are currently curating manually - the lazy ones are just using automatic votes and some others went halfway and are following curation projects voting patterns but... - and overall, more than 15 Million Steem Power that used to sell votes is now manually curating or dormant.

This puts content discovery, curation and incentives to create amazing posts at an unprecedent level, hell, we could even call it ATH (all time high, for those newbies).

This situation is benefical for Steem and for OCDB, because now we can start focusing our downvoting power - without forgeting about the rogue still bidbots - in other type of abuse: Voting circles.

Very soon, ocdb will begin downvoting those who are abusing the system by trading votes at an exagerated rate and by voting on worthless - or non-deserving posts AKA one pic three lines kind of - posts and thus, hurting Steem.

Some of you may question who are we to decide what is an exagerated or blatant voting circle or what falls under vote trading but the truth is, we all know who are the main players that fall under this description. We will begin downvoting them and try to persuade them to share the love, spread their votes and stop the circle voting behaviour that might grow their own stake, but it's hurting the steem price so much that by doing this, they are risking that every day that passes, their stake will be worth less and less.

Great update and really appreciate the transparency, @anomadsoul. You and @acidyo are fighting the good fight for Steemit. We appreciate all that you do for the community.

It will definitely bring some heat and controversy to our shores (even more than the bidbots) but as you say, we're only trying to fight the good fights. It's good to hear from you man!

Hello, @anomadsoul. It's good to be back on Steemit (after a short hiatus) and see familiar faces. Thank you, and @acidyo, for caring for this platform's standards and curating quality posts. _/|\_

I've been wondering that I saw your vote under basically all of dobartim's posts, as well as other and even bigger vote traders, but figured you'll just trade votes too.
Now I'm seriously confused :D

I typically hit dobartim’s “make one selfie” posts with a 50% vote just because they make me laugh, but his poetry I give 100%. I can’t write poetry myself, but as someone who writes fiction, I appreciate creative writing in that form.

I read every post I vote on and despite the great developments on STEEM like @appics, I still tend to think of Steemit as a long form platform. There may be a few exceptions but typically, I only give out big votes for posts that I feel took some real effort.

To your point, though, I admit I’ve become more habitual than I used to be with finding new creators and artists. I used to dig in to the Steemit underbelly under the “new” category of tags. I need to get back to that, and help incentive new artists to stay here. I know communities will make discoverability 100x’s easier @pharesim

BTW, I literally just watched you level up to a (70). Congratulations.

Thanks for the nice words @kommienezuspadt, but in essence, I was attacked for some personal reasons, I must not support my son, wife and brother - I even reduced it, but this guy is gossiping and taking me down every day. If you must not vote on my poetry so that it does not get downvote I will understand it.

It's easy to get stuck in circles, no blame for that. Glad you're aware! It's just unfortunate when we have to use downvotes to cancel yours.
Had a deeper look at your voting, and while you're right that it's not the most diverse these days, I didn't recognize traders besides doby and slowwalker. Doesn't mean none of those do it too, but if so they're not on our radar yet.

Regarding the poetry, reading the rest of what he writes I have strong doubts it's really by himself. But I don't have proof, so benefit of the doubt applies. Maybe he takes more time with the translator with these posts :D

Thanks for the congratulations - reputation is meaningless though, so I don't really watch it. Steemd says it's 70.4, so must have been a while since it crossed that line.

This is interesting site that it being recalled in stats
In this example we see same people voting over and over for same person

https://steemworld.org/@pharesim

I hope we can apply same rules for all steemit members.

We don't look at incoming votes, we look at outgoing.
These are votes on comments btw, as I don't spam posts. It's not "over and over", it's one vote from each of those.

Your silly attempts to turn the narrative are hilarious :D

My account was attacked first with downvotes
You attacked my account first with massive abusive negative lobby , this is excessive downvote abuse in form of spamming and abuse

Says the guy banned by steemcleaners.

If I'm the biggest problem for Steem then you're God and not an angel ...

First the statistics are one thing and the truth is the other. I came to a 0% self vote but because of people like you, I had to defend my posts not to be 0.

Voting for other great bloggers or for a large number of small bloggers comes down to the same point, the exchange of votes.

As much as we support small users, this does not mean that Steem will grow, because we have a limit in support.

There is no negative campaign like now downvote that leads us to a positive end to end solution.

Social networking means that I choose the people I like, who I understand, and not vote random all in a row, then there is no need to write posts.

There are no successful bloggers who are not supported by the same group of people who have Steem Power. Give me a list and show me that percentage.

And I want Steem to jump, you jump to my whole family, wife and son, brother, that's not normal pharesim and curangel.

Give creative ideas and don't judge anything before you check it out.

You're not the biggest problem, no. You're a manageable one ;)

You came to 0% by trading more. No real change, still 75% self-rewarding. And nobody said you should vote randomly, that was your own stupid idea.

We already have a positive outcome. You and your brother only manage to extract >15 steem a day from the community, instead of 65 before newsteem. We're very happy with that result.

I explained to you before that you alone could make 30+ by voting honestly, but as you prefer to make a war game out of this instead of changing your ways you won't. We can keep doing this forever, it's all automated by now and doesn't cost us any time or energy.

Your family acts the same way as you. They're all making themselves targets individually, by voting in the same circles. You can claim it to be personal a hundred times more, that doesn't make it true. I don't know you, and I couldn't care less about your person.

This is public site. Meaning steemit owners in charge can evaluate real picture.
Some people should never ever be elected for steemitwitness in my opinion.

I'm just voting for my posts that you and your team put down to 0. So your story is false, I vote for many people and of course, I support those I love and respect.

I think you have something personal with the slowwalker and some other people, so you put me on the downvote, and of course, you persuade me not to vote for my brother, wife, child, the people whose posts I love.

The point is to show the same lobby group as an example not to vote for the same people, but for new users because it is New Steem. And you violate the basic rules and say that I must not vote for who I want, and yet some vote for each of their posts and you are just supported by these people. You make negative propaganda and the worth of Steem falls, instead of dealing with positive solutions and thinking with your own head instead of doing blind orders. You attack me first and then you give me the solution to rent you Steem Power, what you do is hypocrisy. People are increasingly seeing the truth and what this is all about, soon I expect real lawyers and lawsuits against Steemit just because of the terror being carried out by the negative lobby. Then really Steem can fall a lot more and we all lose money.

Here you can see a picture of who is voting for you, what kind of people you have a real problem with.

Think what you want, you have proven how dumb you are often enough. Every new comment of yours just verifies it.

I don't rent SP, I have quite enough, and when I want more I buy it :)

Liar liar, pants on fire. You are not upvoting yourself because your posts have 0 rewards. You are upvoting yourself regardless of that.

Stop lying because it is easy to see you do. You keep forgetting this is a blockchain...

Did someone place wrong comment again.
Owner of this post must be in shock that this
Not related comments are excellent example of spam that newsteem good members should review twice allowing it on their post.
This platform should be equal rules applied to all
However this post shouldnt be used to spam other members

This post was about updates on ocdb
"OCDB - State of the Curation Rewards + Downvotes"
Can you at least stop spamming others and follow subject and topic before you make any comment.
We should all show some respect to host of this excellent post.

Yes @flysky, stop spamming with your alt account just because you got steemcleaners on your main account because of plagiarism.

This post was about new upgrades to the ocdb.
This comment is example of spam.
Comment should be about post.
What this reply has to do with ocdb good update informative post. This is an example of direct spam against subjective target and good bloggers who believe in steemit as decentralized platform. the way I see it. I hope the owner of this post can realize it.
Now I am seriously confused.
By the way excellent information anomadsoul looking forward to see practical results in days to come.

Will be any downvoting OCD curation trail?

OCD doesn't downvote, but you can follow the OCDB downvote trail 👌🤝

OCD doesn't downvote, but you can follow the OCDB downvote trail 👌🤝

The worth of a post is subjective, making threats to those who vote on 1 pic 3 lines of words posts, is blatant bully tactics, forcing them to vote who you think they should vote for is counter productive. Worst yet, they leave this platform because you take away their freedom of choice and individuality.

You forget people can vote with direct steem transfers with those they are subscribed too, which makes your bullying ineffective.

Makes me wonder who really is abusing the system!

Thanks for your feedback, we'll take that into account. I hope you realize why and how are we focusing on specific accounts.
The freedom of choice will still be there, and just as they have freedom of choice of who to vote, everyone else has freedom of choice on who to downvote, right?

Transfers are actually incredible, because they take away the circle voting, unless a person selfvotes ten times a day, which will eventually lead to other people downvoting them.

We're not bullying anyone and will not be, under a system where downvotes exist, using them is not bullying but just that, using the tools of the system.

Your actifit Dapp review was great, I gave it an ocdb vote. Don't take this as an attempt of buying your silence with votes, actually you being vocal about an issue you deem worthy of having an opinion, you brought my attention to your other posts... Now imagine that big accounts like ocdb dedicated to sell votes or just circle vote with 10 other big SP friends. That's right, your post would've never gotten some of the rewards it deserves.

Hopefully this makes it more clear, if it doesn't, please wait until you see our downvotes, reasons and results.

Have a great day!

The main reason why I brought this up, I upvote a lot of people who for example use Actifit, in many cases, they fit your criteria, 1 photo 1 or 2 sentences. They don't even pass the $0.02 minimum requirement to receive any reward at all, yet I will stii upvote them to encourage them to keep going, and now I am going to be punished unless I convince these complete strangers to hey add more pictures and maybe another paragraph because if they don't my own content is now going to be down voted. I still call that bullying.

There is no individual freedom of choice when it comes to rewards. When it comes to votes, yes, and nothing in this post or anywhere changes the fact that anyone can vote how they like, and the blockchain always permits it. But if others don't feel the rewards are contributing to the value of Steem they can downvote, and the rewards will be paid out according to upvotes minus downvotes, making rewards a community, not individual, decision. (If you want to reward someone based on your own individual decision, transfer your own Steem to them.)

No one is guaranteed any payout ever

This post mentions those that vote for people who produce 1 photo with a few lines of texts will be targeted as well, people like myself. This is what my argument is about.

You don't like the artists/photographers who may decide their images speak for themselves and choose not to put any text with it? :)

Unlike some of us ie me who probably talk too much >_>

Well, this should get interesting from here on out.

Oh I'm sure it will, have the popcorn ready :P

Definitely going to be some fireworks.

My full support for complete @ocdb team

When I realized @acidyo started targetting the biggest abusers, not gonna lie, my respect for him grew huge

Cause many were noticing the behavior over the years... But no one tried hard enough to provide decent solutions

I feel much safer and more motivated to be here right now. Thanks! ♥️

At the moment, 85% of all the Curation rewards OCDB generates, is transferred directly to our delegators

I'm trying to understand your math. if my selfvote worth 10 Steam then I can get your 8.5 steem from using your service or not?

Glad to hear about the new things coming up. Hopefully, we will finally get rid of all these users who are just voting each other worthless content.
