Long distance walking is not only about walking ......
This is a continuation from a post I wrote 2 days ago; on the ingenious way the Portuguese use a tractor to pull fishing boats in out and of the water via the beach. I know this would definitely not be allowed on the beaches at The Sunshine Coast in Queensland. The fine would be horrendous.
It was our first day of a two week and a 170 km walk and we felt energised and excited full of expectations ready for the adventure. The night before we met the rest of our walking companions, there were 9 of them. So although we chatted one does not really get to know people until you spend time with them.
Ben and I were walking with a couple of friends we knew well, my sister and brother-in-law. So no surprises there.
It was a few hours into the day when we walked through a little town with a cafe that we met two of our new walking buddies each sipping on a scotch. It was a laughing moment, both had decided to join the pirate and do what the locals do - drink and watch the walking traffic. It was the start of a beautiful friendship.
Blessings and cheers
And there you go! Gotta cherish the moments as they come. Remember to "Start off slow; and then taper off"
Haha, absolutely the only way to go.

Is IS a great one, just lounging around drinking with the pirate! lol.But then they became good friends right?
Yes janton, Greg and Donna have become very good long term friends. It is a fabulous thing when this happens.
oh that's a wonderful story and I bet they think that picture is funny too! Where are they located or where are they from?
The live in Brisbane so we catch up now and then. I can honestly say that all the walkers on the Portuguese Camino have remained friends.
Well that is wonderful! Were they all from Australia?
There were 2 Americans from Arizona, I French lady who worked and lived in Spain and the rest of us were Australians, better than Texans is what I say - haha.
