The WORLD'S FIRST STEEMIT ART SALE Has Been Completed!

in #steemart8 years ago (edited)

I am overjoyed to announce that @camilla and I just finished negotiating the first art sale on Steemit, and one of the first commercial transactions on the platform. I am now the proud owner of this beautiful work of art:

Eat your hearts out suckahs! It's mine!

Here's how we negotiated the deal

Here's the money I sent to @camilla in exchange for the piece

If you like the piece and want to reward the artist some more, upvote the original post "A Drawing to Express the Power of Steem"

While it is certainly a good thing that the guys at Steemit are working on a marketplace, this proves that Steemit already is a marketplace. We negotiated in public and came to a written agreement, which in most jurisdictions would be enforceable in a Court of Law as the agreement has been immortalized in the blockchain. Though obviously it will never come to that. Not only that, but this demonstrates another way in which Steemit flips commercial transactions on their head. Not only did @camilla make money on the piece, but she made even more money on the post before she ever even sold the piece.

It may never be officially recognized, Steemit may never win the Nobel Prize in Economics (which isn't a real Nobel Prize BTW), but what @camilla and I just did was a historical moment in the field of economics.

thanks for giving me half of the payout for this post!

Looking forward to your next piece! Maybe you can do a steemit inspired portrait of @andrarchy ;)

Wohoo! This is awesome guys! :D So glad @camilla 's post got some more visibility and that I gave you a hint to an amazing painting, @andrarchy.
Look how #steemart is already blooming with creativity thanks to @camilla who got the ball rolling! :) Can't wait for others to join and share their talents!

Congrats on your purchase, I'll be next in line to her next one. ;)

THAT'S SO FREAKING AWESOME!!! Love that painting.

Side note - someone needs to teach @camilla the art of negotiation (pun intended)

She did a great job. She was a pleasure to deal with.

trololol... filmed the negotiation + "I wanted to pay more for future price reasons" aahahaha, good forward thinking... btw, as it goes right now, you'll probably make more than 100 through this blog entry alone, so money well spent...

Hey man, apparently some people think I shouldn't have filmed the negotiation and that the fact that I did could reflect badly on the platform. The only reason I filmed the negotiation was because I was going to do a video on how to negotiate. In the video I made it clear that I wanted @camilla to feel that she had gotten a good deal, and that some times it can be an effective negotiation strategy to actually "overpay." At all times it was my desire for us to reach a mutually beneficial arrangement and for @camilla to feel she had gotten a good deal by selling her first piece of art for a relatively high price.

It's all posted in good / fun spirit - don't worry... I think if you made a bargain and both parties are happy, why not. And the proceeds, from what I see above, go 50/50 to you+camilla, so good stuff for both of you while making history.

"some people think I shouldn't have filmed"
Mind that this is free platform! do your thing )

Indeed... I wouldn't be surprised if the art had an upwards revaluation in the future (many times the current price) due to its uniqueness and history - if you were to auction it / sell it of course. I mean, pokemon cards are valued in the thousands (!) - wtf.

Not for sale

Cryptocurrency is making advancements and evolving. From Pizza to Artwork!!

It's very cool that the art here is not forgotten , @andrarchy

This is awesome! The purpose of a currency is using it for real transactions purchasing and selling goods. You two are doing a great service for helping Steem become legitimate and really take off!

This platform is so much more than a social network isn't it. We haven't even seen what's coming - this is like 0.0001% of the potential. I'm so pumped.

I am excited to see the commerce opportunities that steemit will bring!

Platform STEEMIT will make a lot more discoveries!!!!
