Arsenio Hall performed at Comedy Off Broadway last night and a great time was had by all!

Last Sunday(Father's Day) was my wife's birthday, so last week I was trying to think of something to do for her. We have always enjoyed going to Comedy Off Broadway in Lexington, Kentucky, so I checked the website to see who was going to be performing on Sunday. I didn't recognize the performer for the weekend, so I checked the next few days, and who do I see? Arsenio Hall! Now, we were both teens in the 90's, so I was excited to see that Arsenio was going to be performing this close to home! I put 2 tickets in the Cart and crossed my fingers that it wasn't sold out. Success! We're going to see Arsenio!

We woke up yesterday to massive storms and torrential rain from Hurricane Cindy making it's way up the East Coast, but we weren't going to be deterred, even though there were Flash Flood Warnings for Lexington and it's an hour or more drive on a good day. We left the house at 4:30pm, thinking we would get there a little early and have time to eat before the 7:15pm show.

The rain was horrendous!

We could't have imagined just how much water was DUMPING from the sky! I could barely see the road with the wipers on high, the lights on, and it was the afternoon! Traffic was slowed to a crawl, barely travelling 40mph most of the time. Any faster than that and it was hydroplane city! We pressed on though, and our hour and a half drive ended up being almost a two and a half hour drive.

We made it to Lexington at 6:50pm, barely enough time to find a place to park and get inside. The parking lot was pretty much a pond by this point, so I think we both had wet feet. I know I did!

As soon as we got in and sat down. The opening act took the stage. Emily Galati(you may know her from Last Comic Standing) was the opening act and she was hilarious! Her set started with a bang and didn't let up. Definitely check out this very funny Comic.

Emily introduced Arsenio at the end of her set and the speakers started blaring, the crowd began "barking" and Arsenio made his way to the stage. He turned up the aisle where we were sitting and started toward the stage, so I stuck my hand up and got a high five! LOL! It's awesome to see someone as famous as Arsenio Hall still be so humble and friendly. Once on stage he showed lots of energy as he danced around while the song was still playing and kept that energy going for his nearly hour and a half set! He still looks and acts exactly as he has for almost 30 years on television!

He began with how pretty Kentucky women are(truth) and that he mistakenly hit on a homeless woman earlier. Haha! He touched on his Celebrity Apprentice win and Trump briefly. Then he told stories about his teenage son and taking him to a rap concert where 14000 of the 15000 people were white and singing along to "My Ni@@a", lol! He also poked fun at his cousins for naming their son Niger, and how that would be fucked up if he ever had a job where he had to wear a name badge. His delivery was on point and people were laughing until they cried. Great stuff!

When he was finished after nearly an hour and a half set(long time for a stand up comedian), he brought Emily back up on stage, had the house raise the lights and said, "Alright y'all get them phones out and get your pictures and be sure to tweet them at me."

It's crazy how he still looks just like he always has. He hasn't changed one bit.

All in all, even with the terrible weather, it was a great night and Arsenio's set was totally hilarious. Our jaws are still sore from laughing for so long. If you get a chance to see Arsenio perform, I definitely recommend it. He is funnier than ever and just a really nice guy.
