Amazing! The colors of lightness above the shades~
Feeling very blessed to live here! Thanks fro stopping by!
How do you find the country as a westerner Amy? I am sure the people are lovely but do you find that you are being shaken down at every turn by officials?
Also lovely sunset.
Not really life is pretty easy here. It's corrupt yes, but I do not have the feeling that we are constantly the target or being ripped off because we are a foreigner. I do speak a little of the language and started to learn how to read and write. It helps a lot.
That's great to hear, I had always heard that the locals are very warm and welcoming but had heard you get shaken down by officials. I bet it's a great life.
It sure is and the people are amazing indeed. But as with living anywhere in the world, it comes with a lot of downsides too.
Beautiful colors of the sunset:)
Sounds really intresting living in Cambodia!!
You should write a post about it!! 😉
It sure is. I did some post in the past, but I should write more often about it. thanks for the tip.
Whereabouts in Cambodia do you live? Becca lived in Siem Reap for six months last year (Apr-Nov 2017) doing conservation work in Kulen. She left as business visa ended, pay was enough to live from month to month and she wanted to experience something else. She does miss it from time to time. We're glad you are enjoying it out there :)
I lived in Kampot first for 1.5 years, then in Siem Reap for 1.5 years and now we moved to Kep about 3 months ago. Too bad I never knew as we could have net up. I bet it was nice working in the Kulen area. So peaceful up there.
Over three years in Cambodia! Nice one! You must love living there.
We joined Steemit this year, so if we had joined earlier and met you earlier on here, we could have met up.
Working in Kulen was so peaceful and there was so much flora and fauna. However, Becca worked in Kulen for partly that reason. The nature in that area is facing an on-going problem - there is quite a lot of illegal logging going on in the national park. Yet, she only went on a few trips as a) it was dangerous to document and b) she did not speak Khmer. Still, there was other roles to do. :)
Sad truth. Illegal logging is seen everywhere in the country. What this country needs is somebody new in charge.... but that is likely not going to happen this election ;( Nonetheless I love Cambodia and Khmer people. Especially down on the coast. SR was fun too but 1.5 year was more than enough. Language is important here. We are learning reading and writing and all of a sudden the language makes more sense to learn. Have a lovely day!
Unfortunately, no change to come anytime soon. These NGOs just need to keep on delaying this process as much as possible!
Ah wow, learning the language must be hard. Yet, if you see yourself in Cambodia for the long-term then it makes sense and makes your life easier. Debating about learning Thai.
Siem Reap for Becca was a tourist trap and she loved living even 30 minutes walk (5-10 mins drive) outside as it was already countryside. She would have stayed if conditions were slightly better in regards to pay and the work as this was slow due to bureaucracy.
It’s a beautiful shot! Happy weekend my dear.
Thanks @creativewoman! You too enjoy the weekend!
Beautiful picture. So you live in Cambodia! Much to see and learn I am sure. Have a blessed weekend
Yep! beautiful Cambodia it is. Learning and seeing a lot indeed. So diffrenet than teh west where I grew up.
