This is a weekly, semi-automated post where I will show some statistics and graphs of the development category. It will also serve as a showcase for the staff picks and task requests that were made in the current week. If you have any suggestions or things you'd like to see in this post, then please let me know!

With the start of the new year people are obviously still recovering, so once again the number of contributions is a little bit underwhelming. However, I am sure this will pick up soon enough and we will see people contributing more regularly.

[SteemGigs] UI Improvements Phase 1 & In Page Search by @tobias-g

In addition to being one of Utopian’s bug-hunting moderators, @tobias-g is an experienced and capable developer abilities. This time, he helped to improve the UI of the Steemgigs project, which is another great project on the Steem blockchain. His work on this justifies his excellent reputation as a coder. Consider checking out his development report.

Category summary

  • There were 18 contributions of which 17 were, or will be, rewarded.
  • The average score was 67.0 with an average reward of 36.5 STU from Utopian.
  • The total reward from Utopian for development contributions this week (so far) is 584.6 STU.
  • There were a total of 18 unique contributors in the category. Of those 5 were new contributors in the development category (@gama, @blatinier, @irelandscape, @astrophoto.kevin, @angr).

Number of contributions per weekday

Something went wrong when creating the graph, so unfortunately it's not available. Monday was the day with the most activity in the development category. Pretty interesting as that was NYE. Tuesday had the least activity in the entire week, so if you are scared of competition then this is the day to contribute! Maybe everyone being hungover had something to do with this!

Average score, reward (STU) and time before review (hours) per week

weekly_overview.png
Time before review is the number of hours between the creation of the post and the time it is reviewed by a moderator.

Unfortunately the average score of contributions is down from 74.6 to 67.0 this week. The average reward has gone down from 44.5 STU to 36.5 STU. Of course with the average score also going down, this was to be expected. Finally, the number of hours it takes for us to get to a contribution and review it (on average) has gone down a lot from 19.8 hours to 14.0 hours.

Number of contributions reviewed per week

As you can see, the weekly number of reviews is down from 20 to 18. Unfortunately this seems to be following a trend, as the number of contributions over the last two weeks is also down from 56, in the two weeks prior, to 38.

Contributors

Number of unique contributors per week

Unfortunately something also went wrong with this graph, so there isn't an accompanying image. However, with the number of reviews going down this week it's still really cool to see the number of unique contributors has stayed the same (18).

Moderators

  • @amosbastian reviewed 3 contributions with an average score of 41.3.
  • @codingdefined reviewed 4 contributions with an average score of 77.5.
  • @helo reviewed 7 contributions with an average score of 76.1.
  • @justyy reviewed 4 contributions with an average score of 43.2.

Number of reviews per weekday

Once again something went wrong with the graph. I'm not sure what exactly, but I'll definitely fix it for next week! Monday was the day where we reviewed the most contributions in the development category. Also on NYE, so I'm pretty surprised our moderators weren't out doing something else! Wednesday was the day where we reviewed the least. I guess both moderators and contributors had recovered from their hangovers at his point, so things got back to normal.

Hello @amosbastian,

Firstly, I appreciate the effort put in writing this weekly overview for the Development category. The overview is informative and interesting. While some graphs are missing, the available ones look perfect.
Now that the holidays are over, I believe those graphs that are trending downwards will take a swift turn to the opposite direction. Also, it is nice that the category received new contributors within the holidays.

Please note that while the CM hasn't changed the footer, I am not scoring #iamutopian posts based on the questionnaire. They have their own metric, and that will be the case until we go live with the new guidelines and new questionnaire, which will be comprehensive enough to reflect these types of posts.

Your contribution has been evaluated according to Utopian policies and guidelines, as well as a predefined set of questions pertaining to the category.
