Sketches, what they differ?

in #art8 years ago (edited)

I continue to experiment. Today I want to talk about sketches. A sketch is a quick picture that conveys the main characteristics of an object: light, shadow. Sometimes sketches have color to emphasize some detail.

I will talk about the usual quick sketches: 10 minutes and the picture is ready. And I want to demonstrate 2 versions of the same work.

So, the first

I paint first with the liner, then add the color. I use the strokes to show the shadow. I have 2 liners of different thickness and one red marker.

The second

I draw the subject with a light marker, then I add a darker shade. I work with the liner, emphasizing the edges. I use 2 liners of different thickness and 2 shades of a red marker.

As can be seen, both options are similar to each other. But which way, in your opinion, most accurately expresses the nature of the subject?

I analyze two sketches and an object. And I had an idea how to combine them, preserving the character of the subject.

And, frankly, the third one I like most. And you?

Thank you for watching!

P.S. It is hard to write in English, because my native language is Russian. But I'm learning. If you notice serious errors in the text that interfere with the correct perception, please let me know about them.
