Macro Photography using your SmartPhone and a scrapped DSLR Lens [with Photos and samples]

in #howto9 years ago (edited)

There are a lot of macro clips lens available online that you can use as attachments to your smartphone but most of the time their quality is not what we expect.

If you happen to have a defective dslr lens(55mm etc.) or you happen to know a junk shop that sells them then you grab one and convert them as a lens for your smartphone.

Here is a lens that I converted I believe this is from a 55mm, I got the lens from a friend. This is what I am using for macro shots.

This is what it looks like beforehand. You can find videos on youtube on how to convert them to a macro lens.
You will need small tools to dismantle it like plyers and screw drivers, also a hacksaw to cut the lens in your desired width..mine is about 25mm. Then you will need a garter and plastic lock similar to plastic handcuffs, I don't know the correct term for it.. Its the green one in my above photo.

Here are sample shots taken by my 9yr old boy, SOOC no filter no crop hehe.

This is about a closeup to a wood about an inch in dimension.

This garden flower is about 3/4 of an inch in diameter and he has to zoom a bit the zenfone2 to get this close.

Here's a few more of this flower.

WIth the tiny buds about 6mm-7mm.

Here is another flower in bloom diameter is about 50mm.

Namaste!
