Success is not luck

in #blog5 years ago

Hello,

I was the past two days at a workshop in some town near Frankfurt am main.

One thing that I take with me is that success is not luck.

The irony is that outside of the venue the sidewalk was full of play cards.

I fully agree that the most successful people have made their own luck and did not wait for luck to happen.

Even if some might get lucky, it does not last if they don't anything with it and just wait.

Most of the times in my life if I would not act, my luck would not happen. So I have to remind myself to keep on going.

Don't get me wrong, don't overpay for self motivation events where people gather in masses and don't lear anything. There are mostly platitudes presented which can't be applied in real life. If you choose a workshop, go to a one where cases are studied and if it is possible your special case. With this you get the most out of it.

Remember only this, ot is better do mistakes than not do anything.

But some other people need a lot of it. Just like me I need a little luck to achieve my goals and dreams while working on it.

Hey, @alexvan.

I'd say that's a great takeaway, as far as takeaways go. Most people who succeed, I've read, aren't always the best of the best in what they do, but the ones that stick with it, and learn and make mistakes and improve. That sounds more like a heroic journey for the everyman to me.

As you say, luck can play a role, but you still have to run with it. I hope people can realize that. I feel like there's too much standing around waiting for the big break to occur when so much more could be accomplished in the meantime. I guess it doesn't help that all we see on television are the successes people have on shows like The Voice and American Idol, but only glimpses of all the blood, sweat and tears that got the ones who advance through.

So, anyway, just agreeing with the sentiment. :)
