#RockClassics - All Along the Watchtower

Hi,

on this date, in 1968, All Along the Watchtower was recorder by Jimi Hendrix. I think it is a very good fit for #RockClassics, the # tag brought to us by @uwelang.

I love this song, and this version became the symbol of the Vietnam War generation.

This is not the original version, but the most famous one. The music is in the style of Jimi. He has put the soul into it.

The original, which is not a lesser version, focuses on the message and the lyrics behind and was composed and performed by Bob Dylan, which is the person who shaped the US music the most in the past century.

Of course, there are good versions out there, but the two above rule them all.

I would mention the Neil Young one, as Neil plays it in his style. He is also an artist that goes his own way in music, without giving a thing of what others might say.

And would probably mention the U2 version, just because of the name of the band. They are big, but not my favourite style of music.
