SLC21-W5 // Gelatin

Have you prepared gelatin at home? Tell us about your experience.

I haven’t prepared gelatine prior to today. This is my first attempt at it and it was good. Initially I was skeptical because I didn’t see the red gelatine in my region but I was able to get he amber colour gelatine and I used it to prepare my gelatine.

The experience of the preparation was cool as the lecture was there as a step by step guide to make it an easy one. So my experience generally with the preparation was great.

Make a creative gelatin, you can use fruits, creams, sweets, cream, cocoa, coffee among others (detail utensils, ingredients and step by step).

The ingredients I used for making my gelatine is

  • Water
  • Gelatine (Amber coloured)
  • Fruits and
  • milk

Procedures

I boiled half of my water in a pot and added the gelatine when the water began to boil and I stirred it until all the granules was dissolved in the water.

I added the remaining water to the mixture and put it into the fridge and allowed it to cool for a while.

Then I proceeded to add my condensed milk to taste and my fruits as a garnishing.

Include a handwritten identification sign, next to the gelatin, containing the username and date.

Did you have any difficulty making your gelatin?

Making my gelatine was quite easy as the step by step lecture provided the easiest way to go about it. I didn’t have any issues making it at all.

Some care should be taken in making our gelatin so as to come out well.

When working with powder gelatin, ensure to let the granules dissolve very well when you put it into the water. This is by ensuring you stir it continuously until it totally dissolves to avoid having clogged particles.

Ensure to put gel gelatine into water to soften before working with it. Allow the gelatin settle after dissolving in hot water by adding extra water to it and allow to cool off so as to ensure effective consistency.

You can a design your gelatine and be creative with it by experimenting of different fruits and sweets as you like. The limitations only boils down to what works for you.

I would have love to share my gelatin wit my loved ones but I was home alone hence I couldn’t share it with anyone.

Since I have learnt to make it, hopefully am going to share the delicious dessert with my family whenever they come around.

This is lovely, watermelon gelatine, I enjoyed preparing it too as it didn't have a lot of steps in preparation.

It is actually your first time and it turns out great 👍 you did a good job, wishing you success 👍
