Anchorage is Gold

"Anchorage is Gold"

I love watching the sun set on Anchorage over the inlet. It hits all the buildings just right to create a glittering gold.
Next time I'm back I'd like to try more city shots from this spot. This photo isn't the best, but it was the only time I was there when I went home and the sun set quick. I decided to underexpose this a bit more than I usually would so that the buildings stand out more. I also wanted to showcase how the evening light really feels in that blue hour. Turned out better than I thought. Next time there will be filters, long exposures and more time than 3 minutes. Hah.

This city is my love. I spent the first 15 years of my life here and am so grateful for every second of it.

No way, you grew up in Alaska!? That's so cool. I wish I was Alaskan and cool like you. This is a great picture! Love the contrast between the blue of the mountains and the gold of the skyline. Well done.

great colors, great landscape photography!
congratulations dear friend

Nice blue capture!!

wow, brilliant work!
really nice capture!

Midas was there. ;)

I'm not a photographer but that right there is an awesome shot! I lived in Anchorage as a child, before the 1964 earthquake. Beautiful! CARRY ON!

Thank you! Oh wow that's awesome! So your memory of Anchorage has many architectural and land differences than mine. My neighbor growing up was in the same house for the earthquake. She would tell me stories. I love the old photos of 4th street downtown after the quake.

We missed all that. My folks had a homestead in Homer, and we moved back to Louisiana in December of 63.....I think the Earthquake was on Good Friday 64. We lived in Anchorage until my dad found a homestead tract.

You've made the cold look gold! Love the colours
