Hock busca la perfección
5973 años antes de la gran catástrofe: Era un día normal, como siempre inundado de todo tipo de sonidos, en la gran ciudad era muy difícil conseguir tranquilidad en las calles, los drones y autos de todo tipo, colmaban de movimiento el cielo y el suelo, los grandes edificios, lo hacían con el horizonte. Las personas y ciertas creaturas mas, caminaban como de costumbre en estos edificios, buscando piezas para las maquinas o simplemente haciendo vida social. Los trabajos pesados, ya eran realizados por las complejas y eficientes maquinas, las cuales se encargaban de sacar la basura, de limpiar, de crear, armar, y cualquier otra actividad que en el pasado requirió de la fuerza humana.
Pocos trabajos habían perdurado a través de la épocas, ya las oficinas bancarias no existían, no habían depósitos, ni billetes o monedas, el dinero se había convertido en un concepto abstracto para las nuevas generaciones, el dinero ahora representaba el poder de adquisición únicamente, y no el hecho de poseer ciertos papeles impresos con características especiales, el mundo se manejaba a través de la tecnología de la información, y su trasmisión era vital para lograrlo. Todos los dispositivos que adornaban la vestimenta de las personas, eran capaces de comunicarse entre sí, lograr transmitir la información, y en muchos casos hacer actividades mucho más complejas que pagar la cuenta en un restaurante.
Una de las profesiones menos afectadas, fue las correspondientes a las ciencias médicas. Por lo general los analistas bioquímicos, habían sido desplazados por grandes maquinas robóticas, que eran capaces de extraer las muestras de sangre y otros fluidos corporales, y luego analizarlos, enviando los datos a un sistema de procesamiento inteligente, que era capaz de detectar cualquier anomalía con tan solo estos datos. El diagnostico medico era entregado casi de inmediato, haciendo que el método clásico, ejecutado por el humano, haya quedado totalmente obsoleto antes las nuevas exigencias del mundo moderno.
Sin embargo, en algunos aspectos, era necesaria la vigilancia humana. Se habían diseñados complejos robots, capaces de ejecutar operaciones medicas de alto nivel. Entre ellas, unas de las más riesgosas, las operaciones de corazón y cerebro. Para las operaciones rutinarias, y de bajo riesgo para la vida humana, no se requería vigilancia humana, por lo general su duración no sobrepasaba las 5 horas, y los resultados obtenidos para el desempeño del robot eran totalmente confiables tanto para la comunidad científica como para la sociedad.
Otros procedimientos quirúrgicos más complejos, que involucrasen órganos de alta sensibilidad como el cerebro o el corazón, siempre eran supervisados por el médico. Ya a estas alturas, alguien que estuviera especializándose en las ciencias de la salud, no solo debía conocer a fondo la anatomía humana y su funcionamiento fundamental, sino también el funcionamiento del robot ejecutor, sus funciones, y la manera en la cual podía ser programado para hacer acciones muy específicas. El médico debería entender muy bien el manejo del mejor compañero que podía tener. Por lo general el riesgo para cualquier operación era bastante bajo, los robots habían logrado adquirir la precisión y exactitud que el humano nunca logro en la historia del desarrollo de la medicina.
Gran parte de estas operaciones, no se basaban en la eliminación de alguna enfermedad, por el contrario, eran realizadas con la finalidad de prevenirlas, introduciendo ciertos mecanismos físicos que prevenían estas enfermedades a largo plazo, se mejoraban los órganos, permitiendo un gran aumento en la esperanza de vida en la población. Las personas recurrían al quirófano por dos causas fundamentales, arreglos estéticos, y optimizaciones de algunas de las partes de su cuerpo. La sustitución de la cornea para lograr un visión mejorada, incluyendo los filtros para la luz UV, infrarroja e incluso visión nocturna, controlada por una aplicación inteligente para teléfonos y relojes; era uno de los procedimientos más buscados. Uno de los doctores más revolucionarios para su época, el doctor Hock, era capaz de realizar procedimientos alternativos, mucho menos costosos, y con un gran porcentaje de éxito, sin mencionar el tiempo en el que prometía hacerlos. No cavia duda que los procedimientos, maquinas y resultados del consultorio de Hock, eran la prueba más favorable hacia la nueva revolución tecnológica aplicada a la medicina.
Hock, siendo un millonario excéntrico, apasionado por la morfología humana, había estudiado toda su vida para llegar a ser el hombre que cambiaria el poder del cuerpo humano para siempre, disminuyendo sus limitaciones y optimizando cada una de las funciones que en potencia podemos realizar. Hock sentía ciertos celos de las maquinas, quienes aun siendo creadas por los humanos, lograban perpetuar acciones más limpias, mas exactas y con alto nivel de precisión. Eran cientos de personas las que mensualmente entraban a su consultorio buscando mejoras anatómicas, pero esto era poco en comparación con los procedimientos que Hock le aplicaba a su propio hijo. Este médico siempre fue bastante reservado con su vida privada, pocos sabían que tenía un hijo de unos 5 años de edad, producto de la inseminación artificial, ya que Hock nunca se había casado y se mantenía soltero.
La meta de Hock, era crear al humano perfecto, era su obra de arte más anhelada, y su lienzo era su propio hijo. Por fin las décadas de estudio se estaban materializando en las sucesivas modificaciones que recibía el niño. La ambición de Hock era tan desmedida que le impedía ver con objetividad lo que el mismo le realizaba a su hijo. No fue sino a hasta los 18 años, cuando entendió que había convertido a su hijo en lo que más odiaba. Sin planearlo, cada una de las modificaciones sucesivas que había recibido su hijo durante 18 años, lo habían convertido prácticamente en un robot, de los mismos que se podían comprar en la tienda. Por un momento Hock sintió que había matado a su hijo, pero esta sensación se confundía con el hecho de tenerlo en frente, consciente de su mundo y con una memoria humana. Hock para ese entonces no había entendido muy bien sus resultados, pero estaba en frente del primer eslabón de una nueva raza humana, gracias a él, la gran catástrofe ya tenía una fecha en sus futuros.

All the devices that adorned people's clothing were capable of communicating with each other, transmitting information, and in many cases doing much more complex activities than paying the bill in a restaurant.
One of the least affected professions was the medical sciences. In general, biochemical analysts had been displaced by large robotic machines, which were able to take samples of blood and other body fluids, and then analyze them, sending the data to an intelligent processing system, which was able to detect any anomaly with only these data. The medical diagnosis was delivered almost immediately, making the classical method, executed by humans, totally obsolete before the new demands of the modern world.
However, in some respects, human vigilance was necessary. Complex robots had been designed, capable of executing high-level medical operations. Among them, some of the most risky, heart and brain operations. For routine operations, and of low risk for human life, human vigilance was not required, in general its duration did not exceed 5 hours, and the results obtained for the performance of the robot were totally reliable both for the scientific community and for society.

Hock felt certain jealousy of the machines, which although created by humans, managed to perpetuate actions cleaner, more accurate and with a high level of precision. Hundreds of people entered his office every month looking for anatomical improvements, but this was little compared to the procedures that Hock applied to his own son. This doctor was always quite reserved with his private life, few knew that he had a son about 5 years old, product of artificial insemination, since Hock had never been married and remained single.
Hock's goal was to create the perfect human, it was his most desired work of art, and his canvas was his own son. At last the decades of study were materializing in the successive modifications that the child received. Hock's ambition was so excessive that he could not see objectively what he was doing to his son. It wasn't until he was 18 that he understood that he had turned his son into what he hated most. Without planning it, each of the successive modifications that his son had received during 18 years, had practically turned him into a robot, of the same ones that could be bought in the store. For a moment Hock felt that he had killed his son, but this sensation was confused with the fact that he was in front of him, aware of his world and with a human memory. Hock at that time had not understood his results very well, but he was in front of the first link of a new human race, thanks to him, the great catastrophe already had a date in his futures.
