Travel Journal - Budva, Montenegro

in #travel7 years ago

In the recent years, small country of Montenegro has become a hot tourist destination during summer. It's dramatic rocky mountains and canyons, beautiful beaches and old towns made a word-of-mouth spread like wildfire.

Being in the neighborhood, our decision where to spend the hottest days of the summer ended up being Montenegro over Greece. So we packed our bags and drove to Budva, medieval town that best represents all the beauty of it's small country. Teal water beaches of Adriatic sea, sun-drenched mountains, stone facades of old town and a modern boardwalk along the bitch add to the holiday heaven.

During our short visit, we made sure to check out many beautiful, wild beaches, other nearby cities and ports. Sharing with you piece of the atmosphere.

On our way to Budva, we have to take this quite scary, narrow road along the Morača canyon. It's over 100km long so our non-drivers felt it's best to sleep through it. :D We stopped near the 13th century Serbian Orthodox monastery to admire the canyon in all it's beauty.

It's an incredible feeling when the sea finally appears on the horizon.

Look at this little fellow, having fun on the edge of the dock.

Yes, I was there, but usually behind the camera. :) Photos taken with Nikon D5300, 35mm lens.

I saw a candy store in there :D Montenegro looks like a fun place, with a strong colorful and tropical appeal! I've seen lots of videos in other countries of dangerously narrow and high altitude roads, but I can see that this drive was worth it. What I like most is seeing what looks like an ocean or sea being close to the mountains, the photos highlighting this unique geography has caught my eye c:

You getting a resteem!

We took half of that candy store with us. :D It's a beautiful country indeed, especially because of that mountains - sea equilibrium that caught your eye. You might want to add it to your bucket list. :)

Thanks for the resteem!

I have yet to reach a city where I can see that type of beauty for myself! I bet everyone had a grand time. I shall add Montenegro down. I want to visit Japan, Korea, and Thailand first- starting with Japan next year. I better get myself a passport c: No, thank you!

Everything about it looks beautiful! My favorite photo is of the cat by the dock- looks like he's trying to catch himself some dinner!

I'm glad you're enjoying that one, it's not something you see every day. :)

It was about time you shared these with us @alcibiades! I particularly the one with the tables outside on the gravel road. The lines are really good on that photo! :)

Thanks for sharing.. we didnt quite make it to Montenegro unfortunately.. we had one spare day in Croatia for a day trip and went to Mostar instead... but next time we head over that way will be spending a few days in Montenegro. Love that whole part of the world.. very different from Sydney :)

Don't forget to visit Serbia as well, we don't have sea over here, but you're going to love Belgrade either way. :)
