Ulog and Actifit Report Card: February 4 2019
I walked around the office a lot, but that's pretty much it. Most of my day was meetings and fixing people's computer problems.
Then I received notice of a last-minute decision to push new reservation software tomorrow morning, so I set to work updating an app I wrote to set up boarding pass and bag tag printers for all users. This function is not handled natively.
Thankfully, I found a config file in the folder that controls default setup. So my app finds this file, makes a copy and appends ".bak" to the name, then looks up all printers installed. The user selects the appropriate printers for each task and hits go. Then the app replaces the default "print to file" with the printer name, sets the location, and then purges the program's appdata for all users.
My updates pointed the app to the new install location, program files/company/software name/version/files, but I'd like to avoid redoing it again by checking under software name for different versions, make a list, and add it to a drop down box so the user can select the installed version to configure.
Oh and we also have a testing and a training version too, so I'd like to add functionality for that as well.
