I am welcoming you all to my blog page today. My sincere gratitude goes to you all for your support, comments, and upvotes towards my previous tasks and contests.

Today I'll be proceeding on my achievement-3 task tagged content etiquette. Follow me as I take you down on the guide that governs steemit community.

WHAT IS PLAGIARISM

Plagiarism to my best of knowledge is the act of making use of someone's publications, graphics, images, art, text etc without referencing or giving credit to the source. Under copyright act, plagiarism is a great offend that is punishable under the law. Copying another person's work without his/her consent or acknowledging the creator of the content is a copyright infringement.

TYPES OF PLAGIARISM

  • Self plagiarism: This occur when the content creator copy his/her own work, and this often times is seen as duplicate.

  • Source-Based plagiarism: This type of plagiarism occur when a source of citation doesn't correlate with the intending publication.

  • Accidental plagiarism: This type of plagiarism is a coincidental plagiarism whereby a publisher doesn't knew that his/her content has been published by another publisher.

  • patchwork plagiarism: This type of plagiarism occur when your work is interwovenned with another publication without citation.

  • complete plagiarism: From the word complete, this means that the publisher copied the author's content completely and used it without referencing him/her.

HOW CAN I AVOID PLAGIARISM

plagiarism in totality is not good and should be eliminated by all means during publication. And to avoid it, the following measures should be put in check.

  • Being original to the best you can is one way to avoid plagiarism, i.e be creative in writing without copy someone's work.

  • make enough research, gather all your sources
and references. This Will help you during citation.

  • Always make use of quotation marks when copying another person's work to ensure originality.

CITATION

Citation is the process whereby an author reference or acknowledge the source of his/her publication by using quotation marks.

Example; "The impacts of climate change on different sectors of society are interrelated. Drought can harm food production and human health. Flooding can lead to disease spread and damages to ecosystems and infrastructure. Human health issues can increase mortality, impact food availability, and limit worker productivity"source

Having gone through the nitty gritty of steemit etiquette, I will do so well to abide by it.

Thanks for reading through my content.
