What Computer You Need?
Ever since I was hired by my current employer there are now numerous times wherein my co-employees asked me if the computer that they are going to buy is good.
There are also some who directly asked me what computer to buy.
Most of the time when someone asked about buying a computer, I am always asking them on what will be the use of the computer.
Commonly it will be used for school purposes including internet research and producing school papers, for some it is for video and photo editing.
Here are what you need to take into account when buying a computer
If the computer will be used for school purposes (no photo and video editing)
Most students today only need computer for research and producing documents for school projects, assignments and the likes. But there are some students who need computer for photo and video editing.
Take note, if the computer will only be used for internet research and producing documents for school you will need a computer that has at least a 3 GHz processor and a 4 GB of RAM for a desktop, a dedicated video card is not needed. For a laptop you will need at least an 8 GB of RAM, a dedicated video card is not needed.
In my experience I encountered lag on a laptop with a 4 GB of RAM.
If the computer will be used for school purposes (with photo and video editing)
You need to buy a desktop computer that has at least a 3 GHz processor, a 4 GB of RAM, a dedicated video card with a least 2 GB of RAM.
For a laptop you will need 8 GB of RAM of also a dedicated video card that has 2 GB of RAM.
If the computer will be used for gaming
You need to buy a desktop computer with a 3.7 GHz processor or higher, 4 GB of RAM or higher, a dedicated video card with 2 GB of RAM of higher.
If the computer will be used for office
Most of the time a computer that used by students that don't do photo and video editing will do justice for office works unless you are working in a company that do photo and video editing.
Now, about the question on "if you are going to buy a laptop or a desktop". If you don't need to use computer on your school go for a desktop. If you need to bring a computer on your school buy a laptop.
If you travel a lot and you need a computer buy a laptop. If you are a student that is living on a dormitory buy a laptop.
