Sometimes playing bad can be good - by @thedogekid

A day on the links.

This past weekend my father signed me up for a Father/Son golf tournament.

It was kind of last minute thing, but we thought, what the heck it might be fun and give us a chance to play a golf course we both really enjoyed in the past.

Plus it gave us a chance for some father son bonding.

The format:

After we made the trek up to the course we found out the format would be alternate shot. Which is where one person hits and then the next person hits and it rotates all the way through.

As things got underway we learned right away that neither of our golf game's were very sharp.

I was having trouble keeping the ball in play and we both were missing short putt after short putt.

That trend basically kept up for most of the first day, and we found ourselves shooting a much worse score than we felt we were capable of shooting.

Luckily for us, the tournament was handicapped and they used the hardest holes to configure their handicaps which just so happened to also be the holes we did the poorest on.

The end result was us getting a very favorable handicap relative to our ability going into the next day.

The second day we played much better and with the favorable handicap we established after playing poorly on the first day came into play.

After both days we found ourselves in first place in our division.

It was shocking and funny at the same time.

Basically, we played just poor enough to win. In a way, we sandbagged just the right amount.

Whoever thought of this handicapping thing is a genius!

Can't wait till next year where we will again try to suck just the right amount.

It's always fun to get our there with dad and knock the ball around....even if it's knocking it in the water, sand and in the woods....lol. Best wishes

I love golf and yeah it's not all about winning

Looks like a beautiful course. Which course is this? Where is it located?
Congrats on a great tournament. FORE!
