PERSEVERE- - EVERYONE STARTS SOME WHERE ( whales were once minnows)

in #motivation7 years ago (edited)

"THE TALLEST OAK IN THE FOREST WAS ONCE JUST A LITTLE NUT THAT HELD ITS GROUND"
So says a wise saying.

We need perseverance in all our life's struggles so as to reap bountifully in the end. However, this post is relating perseverance to steemit world.

Have you recently joined steemit? Do you envy those whom you bump into their post and see $144, $75, $45 ? Do you envy those who joined steemit same month with you but their reputation is far higher than yours? Do you see people with lesser SP or reputation making contributions in the community , are well known and respected here on steemit?

I guess you think there is politics here in steemit, perhaps some people's post get curated or upvoted better no matter what they dish out, right? Soon, you will begin to feel like running back, i mean leaving the blockchain, leaving steemit.

My dear, you are not alone in your feeling. You are not the only one keeping late nights, streaming out articles, hoping to make it big.

Each time, i make a post, at the point of sending it, i congratulate myself, I tell myself ' well done, this is good. This should sell'. Do you know sometimes i fix what i expect? I say 'this should make nothing less than $40. But at the end, sometimes i manage to get $2, sometimes even $1 dollar or less. Should i quit? Should you? I see you havent!

keeping up here in steemit tell much about your character. It shows you are persistent, enduring, go getter, someone who does not watch while things happen but , that, who makes things happen. You are a hustler. I am too. We have to remain.

As you put more effort, you begin to improve. Your writing skills get better, whether you make huge sum or not. Sometimes do you notice about 60-80 persons upvoted your post, yet that post hasnt gone past $2? This is because many upvoted you when their voting power is low. (Now this is what all should watch out for. Always use steemnow.com to check your status before upvoting so your vote could make a meaningful impact on the voted).

Now even if you made $1 from a post when about 50 persons upvoted, be grateful that 50 people upvoted it. You have touched 50 lives with your post and by upvoting, they say "we like your work". With time, many out of that 50 people will follow you or look out for you next time. So what happens if they visit when their voting power will really make sense on your post? Please, just persevere.

See the pictures below of a one time World's most extreme fisherman. He crossed all hurdle s, he had his life in his hands, just because he wanted to catch fish and feed his family of seven. See what he went through from these pictures. He lived near such a large body of water which was great for fishing but very dangerous. If he throws the net in the wrong way, the water might pull him in. So much fishes but very hard to catch.

After toiling one day, he found his net to be empty. Then he sought for an option. He needed to go to the island. But to make it to the Island, he will have to take his life into his hands

In the dry season, he built very high wires across the rapids out of old cables and strong ropes

He makes it to his favourite fishing part. After all the risk, how many fishes did he catch? see it.

Pictures snapped from a recorded video from BBC channel when the video could not be attached.

He succeeded in catching a big fish. It may be one but he caught it big. Now his family can eat. What helped him? Persistence.

I tried to upload the video here, but i guess its bad network. sorry.

If a fisherman can risk his life this much just to catch one fish, why wouldnt you persevere? Peseverance is all you need. The whales were once minnows. They started off as newbies, just like you and I

WHAT CAN HELP YOU AND I IN STEEMIT????

i) sit up, work harder on your post and dont be in haste to dish out anything as post

ii) make your post original content, Do not plagiarise other people's work, else cheetah will figure it out

iii)Go out and upvote people. Some may think that when they upvote someone's post they are doing the person a favour, you too are earning. In fact you could actually earn more than the author. Sometimes people upvote your meaningful comment and you find yourself earn as close , if not more than the author of the post.

iv) Be ready to make sacrifices-- your time, resources, money and the rest, steemit will be demanding those from you.

v)Set a goal for your self---It could be a goal of the number of posts to make every week, number of contests to participate in or reaching out to spread steemit news to colleagues, friends and neighbours

vi)Look for one or two channels and join, find out how they do things there and how to be a full fledged member

vii) Use the right tags, some channels are attached to some tags, if you are a member and use it appropriately, people will find you and curate you.

viii) Socialise--- Do not make a post, send and relax. I wonder what i want you to be doing. In truth, make friends in the channels where you find your self and apart from the blockchain put your post in your channels, in the post-promotion tag you will see there.

ix) Always read before commenting. When you do, comment. Give meaningful comment. How would you feel if your comment to a post reads "nice" and someone draws your attention to that same post that it was a dirge? --A post of someone mourning his dead father? Give upbuilding comment, who knows you may attract what you want to your own blog

x) check your right hand side and click FAQ, All questions you have about steemit is answered there.

So dear, the experts in anything were once beginners. You will agree with me that every project , all started somewhere.
Persevere, for nothing will change if nothing about you changes.

this is inspirational. I am sure yhu would have touched lives with this.

this happens always, i call it the minnow syndrome and a lot of people went through it and some are still going through it. I am passed that stage now. When i started it was like that but now i am at a point in my life where i always thank God for steemit. If steemit was not available i am sure we would still be ion facebook and not complain because facebook was not meant to pay us.

i was talking to afriend and he said steemit was not encouraging and i shook my head. this same person will spend hours on fb

nice share i like it

I appreciate your contributions and thank God for your life.May God cause the sky to be our stepping stone
