LAST VISIT TO THE HOSPITAL-----A Story Writing Contest sponsored by AIR-CLINIC

in #air-clinic6 years ago (edited)

We traveled to a friend's village and my daughter took ill, so we went to a clinic nearby. The hospital was very small, had about six health practitioners, putting on funny colors of uniform. I couldn't ascertain who was a Doctor, Nurse, or a Cleaner.

"Please I like to see the Doctor", I said to a man in the consulting room. "Welcome, have a seat, what happened to the baby?" The man asked. Then I explained that she has temperature and refused to eat. "I will give her injection, he said and paced to a box. He brought out the injection and I watched in askance . Just when he wanted to begin the process, my instinct told me not to accept that injection on my child. "Stop, please how many doses will she take from the injection"? I asked.

"For two days". He said. So I told him I am a visitor and leaving next morning. "Can you give me the name of the injection and the specification? When I get home, she will begin the treatment". I appealed. He was hesitant, claiming the child needs urgent treatment. But I begged him and he obliged.
I raced home, explained to my friend why I have to leave. I took the risk and begged God to protect my child. I gave her paracetamol anyway.

Before long, I arrived at my family clinic, where we get quality care. I explained everything to our Doctor and handed him the paper I brought along.Immediately the doctor looked at it, he shouted: "Jesus". I became afraid. "Doctor, what is it"? I asked, with my heart pounding. The doctor asked: "Is this what he recommended for a two- year- old child?. This injection shouldn't be for her in the first place, and then this specification, for this kid"?

"What does that mean"? I asked . The Doctor said "Madam, Thank God he didn't inject your child with this. The child wouldn't have survived it.". I was shaking, I thank God for the inspiration never to accept it.
