Historical, Picturesque Ramsgate
Royal Ramsgate Marina
As mentioned in my previous blogs, the England, and the UK mostly, is seen as bland, dull and boring, particularly by locals. I think that is because most people never take time to experience other parts of the islands outside the big cities. This is probably the case in other parts of Northern Europe too.
Take another colourful town, historical Ramsgate - the very colourful marina town in Kent. On a good sunny day, it would rival the most colourful parts of Spain or Italy. And on a cold, cloudy, stormy day, well, it's just England :)
Ramsgate is in Thanet, Kent, and is a perfect staycation destination for Brits. It also offers many things to foreigners as it displays some examples of fine British architecture. My favourite thing to do there, apart from drink coffee and stare into the colour, is to browse through the antique shops for nautical items.
I've even found some exquisite vintage cameras there for next to nothing.
There's also a very nice beach - part sand part pebble. It's not the kind of beach you'll find in Bournemouth or parts of Devon, but what's special about Ramsgate's beaches is the giant wall of chalk where England ends abruptly along most of it's southern and south-eastern coasts.
It is a dog friendly beach - great for long walks and fetch games with your four-legged friends. 🐕🐩
Looking outside my window as I'm typing this right now, the the sun is just setting, and I can see the days are getting longer now. We are through the worst of Winter (hopefully), and Spring is on the way. I look forward to summer when I will no doubt stop at Ramsgate for some coffee drinking and antique shop browsing.
Peace and Love ✌🏿

It's a lovely little town. A kind of hidden gem in England. I only know about it because I used to live near there once before.

Thanks for visiting us.
As its impossible for me in near years. But you visited me throw your Photography
The very first picture does remind me of Mediterranean cities.
Yes, that's the impression I got the first time I went there too. It sure does feel mediterranean in summer when it's warm enough.
Lovely pictures of Ramsgate. Don't think I've ever actually been there. 😊
That's my point about 'locals' :) I bet many people in Ramsgate have never been to Hove either. I should bring my camera down there in summer and get some photos. I'm not sure I have any.
It's a photographers heaven down here. I'm planning on going to the Open Houses this year and seeing what the professionals are up to.
Hey - nice vibrant photos, and nice video booth intro at the steem meetup which I just watched, might catch you at the next one. D'you live around Ramsgate, or was it just a day-trip?
Peace,
Karl.
Hi. Thank you. I live in London, but I used to live in Canterbury, so Ramsgate is a favourite place of mine :)
