The Bridge over the River Kwai

in #travel9 years ago (edited)

When i first saw the movie The Bridge over the River Kwai i said to myself i have to go there! So, when i was 20 and was traveling around Thailand, i had no other choice than to visit the Bridge.

So i went to Kanchanaburi, a small town around 200km northern of Bangkok where they built the original bridge.

I will share my photos of the new bridge, as the original was blown into hundred pieces by the British and Burmese prisoners.

I am always whistling the melody in my head when i remember the movie :D

Interesting bridge.. when was that built?

The original was build 1942 but was destroyed 1943. After the war they rebuild it,not sure which year.

Gives more meaning to the term .. having a Woody! Bridge over the River Kwai would play a lot on tv when I was younger.. loved it.

:D :D ! it was every year on our national tv whe i was a kid :)
