My Actifit Report Card: 18 November 2018 Weekly Stats

Being packed warm is not enough to endure temperatures of zero degrees for more than 2 hours without cold feet and hands.

Slowly but surely the cold creeps into the body, first the hands, then the feet and finally the upper body. Although the legs are only covered with relatively thin and tight cycling trousers, I feel a pleasant warmth there.

After 40 km I stopped at a gas station and got an energy bar.

At home, I cooked a hot potato soup with carrots, celery, leek, garlic, ginger, chili, and some "secret" spices. A splash of Australian Chardonnay also found its way into the soup. It tasted simply delicious.

As I write this post and accidentally look out of the window, I notice the dancing game of snowflakes. Cars on the streets are covered with a thin blanket of snow.

Winter has arrived. Will I be able to cycle tomorrow? I don't know yet.

Warm eingepackt zu sein reicht allein nicht aus um Temperaturen um Null Grad über mehr als 2 Stunden ohne kalte Füße und Hände durchzustehen.

Langsam aber sicher schleicht sich die Kälte in den Körper, zuerst die Hände, dann die Füße und zuletzt der Oberkörper. Obwohl die Beine nur mit einer relativ dünnen und engen Rad-Hose bedeckt sind, spüre ich dort eine angenehme Wärme.

Nach 40 km machte ich an einer Tankstelle Rast und gönnte mir einen Energie-Riegel.

Zuhause angekommen machte ich mir eine heiße Kartoffel-Suppe mit Karotten, Sellerie, Lauch, Knoblauch, Ingwer, Chili und einigen "geheimen" Gewürzen. Ein Schuss australischer Chardonnay fand auch den Weg in die Suppe. Sie schmeckte einfach genial.

Während ich diesen Post schreibe und zufällig aus dem Fenster sehe, bemerke ich das tänzelnde Spiel von Schneeflocken. Autos auf den Straßen sind mit einer dünnen Schneedecke eingehüllt.

Der Winter ist angekommen. Werde ich morgen noch mit dem Rad fahren können? Ich weiß es noch nicht.

I am still on target, though it is getting tougher with cycling when we get minus degrees. I probably will cycle only 20 km/daily.
