Fantasy premier league 18/19 preview Part 2 out of 3

Everton

BIG Sam came in and fixed it, as usual. Is it just me that wonder in which PL team he will by Christmas this year? Koeman spended a fortune (140£m) on players last summer and a 18th place by the end of October wasn’t simply good enough. He got sacked, Big Sam came in and guided them to a respectable 8th place, and got sacked.

Today’s Everton manager is Marco Silva, the former Watford manager. Everton hope to get a new fresh start under the 41 year old portuguese and many supporters of the blue side of Merseyside will hope they could even challenge the top six sides in the League. Silva will for sure play a more attacking minded football at Goodison Park that his precursor, Allardyce. This could also give us fantasy players more interesting Fpl assets than last season. For example Silva has brought in his golden boy from Watford for £50 million, Richarlison (£6.5m) will for sure will be in many fantasy teams.

Other interesting players are Sigurdsson (£7.5m), Tonsun (£7.0m) and Pickford (£5.0m). Taking into consideration that Everton got a good run of fixtures in the beginning of the season (Wolves (A) Southampton (H) Bournemouth (A) Huddersfield (H) West Ham (H) Arsenal (A) Fulham (H) Leicester Crystal Palace (H) ) their players will attract FPL managers.

Players in: Richarlison (£6.5m), Lucas Digne (£5.0m)

Fullham

A new-old London side is back after they defeated Aston Villa in the EFL Championship play-off final. Slavisa Jokanovic’s side make a return to the Premier League after a four-year absence. Last time around I remember having Brede Hangeland and Clint Dempsey in my fantasy team. Hopefully I will find a new Dempsey in this seasons Fulham side.

Last season Fulham had a really bad start winning only four of their first 17 games but then suddenly they had a 23-match unbeaten run between December and April wich saved their season and finally gave them their ticket to Premier League. Fulham scored more goals (79) than any other Championship club beside Wolverhampton Wanderers (82). They also had the highest average possession percentage (57.6%) among all Championship club. Though their defensive statistics were not so good and for example they scored only 9 set piece goals. This leaves me with not so much interest in Fulham defenders.

Attacking assets that is out of interest are Tom Cairney (£5.0m). Cairney managed 5 goals and 5 assists last season and was one of three players nominated for the EFL Championship Player of the Season. In the end it was his teammate Ryan Sessegnon (£6.5m), who had a superb season scoring 15 goals and 6 assists, who got the nomination. Selected by nearly 12 % of the fantasy managers he isn’t a real differential pick but could easily be worth the money if you believe in him.

Players in: Jean Michael Seri (£5.5m), Maxime Le Marchand (£4.5m), Andre Schurrle (£6.0m) and Aleksandar Mitrovic (£6.5)

Huddersfield Town

“Last season Huddersfield was this season’s Cardiff”. Predicted in bottom of the table and almost everyone thought they would make an instant return to the Championship. They proved everyone wrong and fell into the drop zone only once in the entire season. They finished 16th, 4 points above relegation. Their best (most points) fantasy players were goalkeeper Lössl (£4.5m) 135p, Defender Zanka (£4.5m) 107p and midfielder Mooy (£5.5m) 113p. For sure these players are in the mix also this season if you want some of their players in your fantasy squad.

They have invested in new players like: Ben Hamer (£4.0m) , Terence Kongolo (£4.5m), Ramadan Sobhi (£5.0m), Juninho Bacuna (£4.5), Erik Durm (£4.5), Adama Diakhaby (£5.0m) and they better have because I think we could have a second season syndrome here. I would be surprised if they play Premier League football next season.

Leicester City

And here we have...this season Premier League winners. You did laugh, didn’t you? And so would I have done i August 2015 if someone had said that to me. And no, Leicester won’t win the title this season. If they do I will be a Leicester fan forever and ever.

So, last year Leicester was ninth in the league and this year they will be something very similar if I have to predict. Mahrez (£9.0m) is nowadays a Man City player and there are also rumours around Maguire (£5.5m) putting him in the red areas of Manchester. If he’s a Manchester United player by August 10th this guy will be in my fantasy team because I think he’s really really good. I do hope, he’s a Leicester player at August 10.

Leicester have tried to fill the hole after Mahrez buying an interesting attacking midfielder named James Maddison (£6.5m) from Norwich City. He’s now Leicester’s most expensive midfielder in the game but may be worth it from what I have read about him. The England under-21 international scored 14 goals and assisted eight goals for Norwich in the Championship last season. An interesting player I will watch closely.

Other new player in are: Ricardo Pereira (£5.0m), Jonny Evans (£5.0m) and Danny Ward (£4.5m)

Liverpool

“This does not f*ing slip now. This does not fing slip now. Listen. Listen. This is gone. We go to Norwich. Exactly the same.We go again. Come on!” - The famous words of Stevie G in 2014 when the title literally slipped from Liverpool. Even as a non Liverpool supporter this hurts. Steven Gerrard was so good he should have a PL title but he hasn’t.

This year I think Liverpool will be up for it. They were good, really good last season but going into this season, they should be even stronger. With new acquisitions like Fabinho (£6.0m), Naby Keita (£7.5m) , Xherdan Shaqiri (£7.5m) and Alisson Becker (£5.5m) I think they have had the best transfermarket of all teams in PL so far.

Then we have the dilemma, Salah (£13.0m)!!!!! Should we go “Salah” or “non-Salah”. The man who scored astonishing 303 points in fantasy PL last season. I think the price is fully justified. Itś just so much money for one player in the the beginning of the season. At the moment he’s in half of the teams and rightly so. I think I will go with Salah but also aware of that I can get Mane (£9.5m) for 3.5 million less who’s maybe on penalties. But then I don’t have Salah. It’s difficult, maybe I just go with them both.

Only one question left: Is it gonna slip?

Manchester City

City won their third Premier League title on 15 April 2018 following West Bromwich Albion's 1–0 win away to second place Manchester United, and the EFL Cup with a 3–0 win over Arsenal. The season was momentous for the vast number of Premier League records set during the season, these included: most points (100), most away points (50), most points ahead of second (19), most wins (32), most away wins (16), most goals (106), best goal difference (+79), most consecutive victories (18), biggest share of away possession (82.13%), fewest minutes losing (153) and quickest team to score 100 goals (35 matches). Elsewhere the team equalled the records for earliest title win (5 games), most opponents beaten in a season (19), and most consecutive away wins (11). Because of their achievements, this Manchester City team is considered to be one of the greatest sides in the history of English football. Enough said. City are the favourites for the title. You should have City player/players in your team the whole season. “Easy” first 7 gameweeks.

New players in: Mahrez (£9.0)

Manchester United

What is happening in this Club? In the last few days I have been reading articles about Mourinho’s third season syndrome. During the portuguese two spells at Chelsea and Real Madrid the wheels have fallen of during the third campaign and it certainly looks like everything isn’t okey in the beginning of his third season at Man Utd.

"This is not our team, not our squad. We started the game with almost half of the players not going to belong to our squad.

"This is not even 30 percent of my squad, so don't look to this that way. What did this game give me? Nothing at all.”

You could see he’s definitely not happy with his teams pre-season and preparations for the upcoming campaign.

So what should we think about investing in Man Utd:
Opening 9 fixtures are good (Leicester (H) Brighton (A) Spurs (H) Burnley (A) Watford (A) Wolves (H) West Ham (A) Newcastle (H) .
Defensively the should be ok so De Gea (£6.0m), Bailly (£5.5m) or even the “0ut-of-favour” Shaw (£5.0) is good picks.
Offensively I’m looking at Sanchez (£10.5m) who I think will have a good season after a long summer break without World Cup football. In pre-season he has been playing as a striker but it now seems like both Romelu Lukaku (£11.0m) and Marcus Rashford (£7.0m) have returned early from their holidays in an attempt to be available for Gameweek 1.

New players in: Diogo Dalot (£5.5m), Fred (£6.0m)

Make sure to do your research, Managers and Good Luck!

Sort:

It will slip or maybe they won’t come even close.
City will take the title according to me just a more balanced team than Liverpool. What if Salah gets injured?
Curious what Chelsea will do and if Mourinho still will be the manager of United?
And then we do have Arsenal in the post Wenger season. Will they get a complete new playing style?
And then the master of transfermarket Tottenham! Paying off the new Stadium hurts I guess but at least they kept the squad together (for now)!
It will be an interesting season. Looking forward to it!
Cheers,
Peter
