Steem Fantasy Premier League - Gameweek 4 Review + Scorum Prediction Challenge!

in #steem6 years ago (edited)

Heading into gameweek 4 thirteen Premier League clubs have been in action in the Carabao Cup second round this week. As a FPL player you should always be aware of that players, if they’re unfortunate, could be injured and therefore misses the upcoming gameweek fixture. Therefore it is sometimes good to stay cool and wait with you transfers, although it means a price raises, until Cup games are played. If you have played the game for some years I’m sure you have been in the situation buying a “hot” player on Sunday evening and when the next gameweek start the player you have just brought in is already “ red flagged” with an injury. This is so frustrating and something you want to avoid.

Gameweek 4 is the last gameweek before the international break. This means we will we have to somehow manage 13 days without Premier League football. The first international break of the season usually also means that many FPL players plays their wildcards. Some because they can’t stand watching their underperforming players or awful teams anymore and others just because it’s fun.

After the international break the bigger teams in PL starts their Europa adventures. First matches of Champions League will be played on Tuesday 18 September and The Europa League kicks off on Thursday the same week. On Thursday this week UEFA Champions League groups stage draw took place and the outcome was quite tough for the English teams:

Group B: Barcelona,Tottenham, PSV, Inter Milan
Group C: PSG, Napoli, Liverpool, Crvena Zvezda
Group F: Manchester City, Shaktar Donetsk, Lyon, Hoffenheim
Group H: Juventus, Manchester United, Valencia, Young Boys

Top 3 transfers IN and OUT this week (until Thursday evening)

IN:
Walcott (6.7m)
Lucas Moura (7.1m)
Mitrovic (6.6m)

OUT:
Richarlison (6.7m) (-850 000)
Firmino (9.5m)
Arnautovic (7.0m)

Gameweek 4 fixtures are:

Match previews

Chelsea - Bournemouth

Chelsea host Bournemouth on Saturday afternoon at Stamford Bridge. A win for Chelsea would mean 12 points from their first 4 matches and a top 3 place in the league table. A win would also put Sarri in the mix of PL managers that have won their first four PL matches. Three of the other five are also former Chelsea managers: Jose Mourinho, Guus Hiddink and Carlo Ancelotti. The others are Pep Guardiola and Craig Shakespeare. The situation for Sarri couldn’t be much better with a whole week of training without midweek game and no new injury concerns. In the week FPL managers have invested quite heavily in Chelsea assets like Alonso (6.7m), Pedro (6.6m) and Hazard (10.7m).

Bournemouth have had an decent start to the campaign with 7 points from three matches and 6th place. Eddie Howe’s team will try to repeat their 3-0 victory against Chelsea from last season but it won’t come easy. Bournemouth heads into the weekend with an 3-0 win over Mk Dons in the Carabao Cup earlier in the week. Howe did rotate his squad for that game so their first eleven should be ready to go. The will hope that Callum Wilson (6.2m) is able to continue his good early-season form. Wilson has got 2 goals and 3 assists in three games. Howe has played a 4-4-2 formation in previous game but I wouldn’t be surprised if he fields a more defensive team on Saturday.

Possible starting lineups:

Chelsea : Arrizabalaga, Azpilicueta, Rudiger, Luiz, Alonso, Kante, Jorginho, Kovacic, Pedro, Hazard, Morata
Bournemouth: Begovic, Smith, S Cook, Ake, Daniels, Brooks, Surman, Lerma, Fraser, King, Wilson

Watford - Tottenham

This gameweek “clash of the titans”. 9 points v.s 9 points. Two clubs (out of four) that are still perfect in the Premier League. A Watford that have a terrible record against Spurs failing to win any of the previous 10 encounters. The match at Vicarage Road could be an interesting one.

Watford played Reading in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday night and didn’t disappoint their fans. A 0-2 win and a place in the third round of the Cup was a good warm up. Never before in their top-flight history have Watford won three from three to start a season. Roberto Pereyra (6.2m) and his teammates are looking to make it four out of four and at same Pereyra himself will try to add more fantasy points to his already impressing 26. Pereyra has had a hand in nine goals in his last nine Premier League appearances at home and nothing says he couldn’t keep up his good streak against Spurs.

Spurs, on the other hand have now (after their convincing 0-3 win at Old Trafford) won more PL points than any other side in 2018. 49 points from 21 matches (15 wins, 4 draws, 2 losses) is a respectable result. A 16th win this calendar year won’t come easy. Though, Spurs have scored 7 goals and their attacking play has been good their defense has looked a little bit rusty at times. Watford’s attacking force with Deeney on top could give Spurs center backs something to think about. But at the same time that also applies to Kane and the Watford defense. Kabasele and Cathcart will have to work hard keeping Kane quiet for 90 minutes.

Possible starting lineups:
Watford: Foster, Holebas, Kabasele, Cathcart, Janmaat, Pereyra, Doucoure, Capoue, Hughes, Deeney, Gray

Tottenham Hotspur: Lloris, Trippier, Alderweireld, Vertonghen, Davies, Dier, Dembele, Lucas, Dele, Eriksen; Kane

Steem-pick

Salah’s 8 points in gw 3 means it was a step in the right direction for me and my steem-picks.Though I feel I’m not yet ready to try a real differential pick so this gameweek I have gone for a proven player. My steem-pick this gameweek is Eden Hazard (10.6m). The Belgian Magician has delivered attacking returns in each of his three games this season (4,4,8) – even though two of them were as a substitute. In the last game against Newcastle he played the full 90 minutes and had more penalty box touches and attempts on goal than any player on the pitch. After scoring from the penalty spot it also looks like he’s Chelsea’s first-choice penalty taker also under Sarri. Hazard now faces back-to-back home matches against Bournemouth and Cardiff City and I would fear not having him in my team for these fixtures.

Please let us know your thoughts on the upcoming gameweek!
