This sounds like a big grammar right? No worries, i have thorouhly explained it, just sit back and read carefully.
OLIGOSPERMIA; also known as low sperm count,as the name implies simply means having a sperm countwhich is below 15 million
sperm per milliliter of semen. I hope you now understand what that word "oligospermia" that seems big means. Very good!!! Let's proceed;
A low sperm count may lead to inability to conceive naturally posing uneccessary problems to the life of such persons.
A low sperm count could be the factor in one out of three couples who are
struggling to get pregnant since there will be a problem of fertility which usually lies solely on the male partner.
Some Of The Reasons Leading to a low sperm count are listed below;
*Varicocele; As a result of vein abnormality of the scrotum. It is also known as scrotum varicose vein, and can be treated.
*It could be as a result of antibodies that attack sperm.
*Tumors
*Hormone imbalances
*It could be due to prior surgeries, industrial chemicals, radiation or X-rays.
*Exposing oneself to heavy metals
- Poor acquired habits such as drinking of Acohol and Smoking of ciggarettes
Also, a medical condition referred to as AZOOSPERMIA is as a result of the complete lack of sperm in the male semen which is strongly associated with infertility. In humans, it affects
about 1% of the male population and may be seen in up to 20% of male infertility situations.
The causes of Azoospermia include;
*Genetic conditions, and some of the causes associated with oligospermia, such as variocele, smoking etc.
*Taking of Soda drinks (e.g Coke, Fanta, Pepsi).
Ways by which these can be prevented
- While processed meat products cause low-quality sperm, carrots and other
vegetables can actually boost fertility and decrease the risk of infertility in women.
*Also, men should stop putting their laptops on their laps due to radiation coming fron it.
*Wearing of tight pants to sleep is also not advisable and should be avoided
*Let your doctor enlighten you on sperm count
