Speed, Trust and Efficiency. Why We Need Blockchain ASAP...
October 23 is the date my drivers license expires and being a cautious and sometimes too cautious person I decided I should not wait till the last days and get myself a new one. Although it may sound weird but in this country you got to prepare for this type of activities. The bureaucracy and slowness of how things work around, especially when it comes to public services, is really annoying.
Anyway, to change my license I got myself the paperwork prior to the whole marathon of today, woke up pretty early, for me, and went to some private clinic to do the medical checkups, because in Romania you have to pass through some checkups to have yourself a brand new drivers license. It's just some stamps from the doctors that you're paying actually and not a fully medical checkup. It's all legal though...no bribery of anything you might think of.
Overall it cost me about $30-40 to change the damn license and a whole a day wasted to do that. Why a whole day? Because I lost almost one and a half hours by doctors, got back to my hometown because I drove to "the big city" near by to do all the shit and got back to get the stamped paperwork at 16:00. That's the time when the doctors come from the national hospitals to their private clinics to make more money and make people like me happy... Hurreyy!!!
After staying in line for about two hours and having everything at hand I headed, actually running a bit because it was almost closing hours, to the police station to give back the old drivers license and do some photo shooting for the new one. Didn't even liked the pic but don't even care that much about it after this whole thing. Now I'm done with it finally and am at home ready to make myself some dinner. Spaghetti actaully.
Today though was really a wasted day. Couldn't do anything in between visits and don't feel like achieving anything actually. They could have simply take the old one and give the new. Such things could happen in a much easier way of course but that's what happens when you live in an ex communist corrupt and dated country. What can I say about that and being born here, karma...
I do start to appreciate more and more Bitcoin, blockchain and "proper decentralization" put to work after such experiences. Romania is still many many years behind, unfortunately, from embracing even the systems that other European countries have and such tech is even more far away from becoming a reality for us. It's probably time for me to move again...
Thanks for attention,
Adrian
I have to laugh because when I see Romanian truck drivers on the autobahn I always think they are the worst drivers! Sorry that you had to go through it, it bad in Germany here too. Lucky for me they rook my license from the us and I didn't have to do all the crap!

In Germany everything happens faster from what I know and you know, Romanian are not bad drivers at all. They're always in a hurry and don't like rules that much:)))
We learned how to drive on shitty cars and now we get Mercs, what do you expect.
In Austria for example my father changed his license in about twenty minutes with no medical checkups needed. Just a tax and two photos, that's it. He also has 15 years to drive with it I might get only 10 with the Romanian one and I'm younger. Other than that Romania is pretty fucked when it comes to such things.
