2 weeks ago on a #BeautifulSunday, after leaving Shuang Lin Monastery, I drove to Bencoolen Street to the Kwan Im Thong Hood Cho Temple. First the western one. Bumblebee. Some enterprise chap has dressed up to make money taking with pictures.

This God of Wealth looks similar to the one outside Toa Payoh Library. The difference here is no 4 digit number on the hand.

Back towards the direction of the temple, further away is another temple. An Indian Temple where even Chinese devotees of the Kwan Im Temple stop for a quick prayer just to be be doubly sure so said our Prime Minister in the National Day Rally speech in 2005 (https://www.pmo.gov.sg/newsroom/prime-minister-lee-hsien-loongs-national-day-rally-2005-speech-english )

Actually, Chinese New Year used to make many places like ghost towns.
Stores will mostly be closed. In the pass years and years ago, no McDonald's.
Then they started and even open throughout the first 2 days. It was then KFC and PIzzahut and now more and more are doing business on the major holidays.
I know!!! Isn't that totally disgusting???
Well, at least they serve the people who don't cook. It was only McD's for a number of years.
Nowadays, even some supermarkets are open on day 1 of the new year.
I know, but, that has ruined family time!
