A couple of Sundays ago, I was still clearing stuff from home to get ready for renovation. As I was eating breakfast, I picked another hard disk to take apart. This one is a 2.5 inch one. I told my friend after I bought this one, I didn’t buy another Western Digital because this one went kaput on me. So, I bought Seagate. He told me he had a Seagate that went kaput on him and bought Western Digital. That means still a matter of luck.

Photo printing paper would be dumped. I don’t have a printer for a long time. I would keep one set of the Chinese New Year greeting cards because I like that they open into a scroll.

Ah… this file contains many papers of my wedding expenditure but the lady is just keeping the papers inside after I got ride of the rusty staples.

I used to save everything. But now I just take a photo and give it away.

"Luck" is definitely not on the WD's side. I have two of them died the last year. One harddrive remind yours, another one is a portable version. Both are non fixable now:
Meanwhile, Seagate of the same age is still working fine. Just a luck?
Btw, may I ask what are you going to do with removed disk? Do you know any way how to get data from this dead device?
Then your luck statistics is in line with me. I don't know how to get the data but some too long and does not matter. Those really I want have double backup. My point of removing the disk is just not let anyone get hold of it. They said to be safe you need to drill a hole through it but I don't have a drill powerful enough and I was also curious if I could tear it apart. So, I experimented with one and another and another and.... well.

It is amazing what you come across it can either still be good or it just brings back great memories well happy cleaning and dumping. I am running behind but i still wanted to put in a post on @beautifulsunday so here it is enjoy my friend :)
