[Green Deeds Vol. 10 Contest | #ClimateAction: Do at least two things to fight Climate Change]

Hope we are all doing perfectly well. It is another edition of our usual Green Deeds contest organized by @thegreens under @steem-cameroon community. I will be talking about the actions I’ve taken to fight against climate change before, during, and after this contest was launched. This I will carry on even after the contest is over, in order to contribute in my own little way in fighting against climate change.

To fight against climate change can be done in several ways. No matter how one’s contribution may seem small, I encourage every individual to join the fight against our changing Earth in every possible way. One can indulge in fighting climate change in any of the following ways; reduce the use of automobiles by improvising on ecofriendly means of transport such as using bicycles or walking ; planting of trees; employ the use of solar power plants and other ecofriendly source of power supply; avoid using non CFC free refrigerators; sensitizing your community on the domestic activities they carry on that can affect or influence climate change.

Having enough plants to consume huge quantity of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere and other gases that are responsible for climate change will go a long way to mitigate the intensity of climate change in the near future. The actions I have been taking on climate change and the ones I did due to the initiative of this contest in order to fight against climate change are expressed below.

I believe planting of trees will increase the rate of consumption of Carbon dioxide present in the atmosphere since plants take in this gas which is the primary gas of interest that enhances the increase in the Earth’s global temperatures.

The picture on the right is a tree I planted yesterday (01/10/2021) in order to increase the rate of plant intake of Carbon dioxide in our atmosphere. Generally, in the section of the Southwest region of Cameroon where I grew up in, when we cut down trees, we plant cash crops such as palm trees and cocoa trees which in one way or the other maintains the availability of plants in the area.

To the left is a picture of me in a farm full of palm trees which acts as plants for carbon dioxide intake and at the same time cash crops. It is advisable to take into such farming rather than cutting trees without replenishing them.

Most at times in the house we use solar system of electrical power supply especially when there’s general electricity failure like that of the past few days in mile four Nkwen, Bamenda.

With or without electricity from ENEO, we have a constant Solar power supply for the security lamps in the compound. This set of lamps have been made to automatically switch on by 6:30pm am due off by 6:30am. The first picture on this write up shows one of these lamps in the compound and this picture on the left was also taken for one of the solar lamps we use here.

We have a generator which we don’t use anymore since the solar power source is ecofriendly and Costs less.

Today being the 2nd of October, I had to visit a friend at mile five, Nkwen and I had to the take a bicycle for the ride instead of taking an automobile which will pollute the atmosphere by adding more Carbon dioxide. To avoid being the cause of more pollution, I decided to make use of my neighbor’s bicycle.

Whenever we are using electrical energy I always make sure the lamps are switched on only when required and also other appliances like the refrigerator in order to lower the rate of pollution

We only use CFC free refrigerators to avoid the release of chlorofluorocarbons which accumulates in the atmosphere and react with oxygen in the ozone layer under sunlight, reducing the Ozone layer and also the carbon from the CFCs reacts with oxygen on its own yielding more carbon dioxide.

Most at times I talk to people about our present Earth and how it was suppose to be in order to create awareness on the little things we do that increases carbon dioxide and other gases which are not good to our environment. I also participate on contests such as those organized by @thegreens here on steemit platform.
