Main gate of Ramsagar National Park

Greetings friends,
After a long time I am going to pin my favorite place on Steam Atlas through Steemit Challenge 26 Week 02 . A large man-made pond in Bangladesh which is Ramsagar National Park in Dinajpur. It is a very popular and nature-covered place where a pleasant environment and greenery and chirping of birds are all features. Let's describe it in detail.

Two photographs of the pond from two different periods.

Ramsagar is located in Tajpur village, 8 km from Dinajpur district in northern Bangladesh. Ramsagar is the largest man-made reservoir with an area of 437,492 square meters, a length of 1,031 meters, a width of 364 meters, and an average depth of 10 meters. Anyone can easily enter here, but you have to buy a ticket to enter, which costs 20 BDT ($0.17), 1.20 steem. It has been a national park since 1997, preserving its natural beauty.

This signboard is a fragment of Ramsagar's history.

There is a tragic history behind the construction of this pond. In 1950, there was a drought due to lack of rain, which resulted in famine in the area, along with a shortage of food and drinking water. This food shortage claimed the lives of many people. King Ramnath hired many workers and dug this pond. The total number of workers was 150,000. But still no water was seen in the pond. After receiving word of mouth and a dream, the king's son, Yuvraj, sacrificed his life in the pond and the pond filled with water, which has never dried up till now. This pond was dug in 1750-1755. The area of the pond is 77.90 acres and the area of the garden is 68 acres. It is currently managed by the local administration as a national park.

The huge reservoir and the greenery around it always attract people. There is a temple here. There is a park, a mini zoo, a beautiful road for walking around the pond, which is 3 km long. It has now become a picnic spot for many people, there are a total of seven picnic corners here. There is a cafeteria, a children's park. There are two boats for boating in the pond, one of which is engine-powered and the other is foot-powered. This is the best place to take pictures and get close to nature.

There are about 15 types of trees here, which are spread along the road and around the garden. Mango, jam, jackfruit, teak, amalaki, haritaki, deodaru, jarul, kanchan, nageswar, jackfruit, banyan and many medicinal and flowering trees that enhance the natural beauty. Various types of birds and animals can be seen here, among all the native birds, there are shalik, dove, tia, etc. Among the animals there are foxes, squirrels, beji etc. Among the animals in the zoo there are deer, Hanuman, monkeys, pythons, peacocks.

Camping is done here when fishing competitions are organized. It is also famous for cycling and sightseeing. Even if you don't go boating, you can enjoy the natural scenery in the clear water of the huge pond by boat.

There is a rest area here which requires permission to use and there are also many benches to sit and spend time. There are seven picnic corners here with toilet facilities. There is a cafe which is currently closed. There is a mosque for prayers and a temple for Hindus. All people have the right to enter but adults have to buy a ticket to enter.

Boat trip on the vast reservoir of Ramsagar

For me, the best time to visit Ramsagar is always March and April when the trees bloom and the temperature is relaxed, making the visit to Ramsagar even more enjoyable. I have seen many sunsets in this Ramsagar which is a great feeling. For me, this is the best place, I enjoy it both in good and bad times, which gives me peace. I will always enjoy this place and my thirst to go here will never end. I want to go again and again and will go, God willing.

Advice If you want to eat something from the shop inside, you should know the price first and eat it. Sometimes they charge more for food which will scare the visitors. I invite you to come here.

Thank you for your valuable review and feedback.❤️

Are you sure about this? Any authentic source?

I made a mistake while writing the area of the reservoir but the area of the park was 68.54 acres. The area of the reservoir was 77.90 acres and it is mentioned on the billboard above and on Wikipedia.

I edited the 179 acres from my post to 77.90, sorry for my mistake in writing this.

Always try to provide original information. Thank you for updating it.

The park is great, and the sunsets on the river are even better. It's cool enough to go check it out. Cheers!
