#thediarygameの投稿テーマは、日々の日記。日常生活の活動に関するものとのことです。そこでわたしは今日、驚くくらい変貌を遂げた、近所の公園について書きたいと思います。

The post of #thediarygame is about daily activities. So I would like to write about a neighborhood park that I love.

以前も書いたことがありますが、私はこの頃、早朝に、近所の新宿中央公園を散歩するようになりました。
時間のあるときは仕事が終わった後にも。休日には、1日に何度か訪れることもあります。

大きな理由は、公園が整備され、芝生が整い、人が集えるような場所ができたことです。Starbucksも併設されました。

As I wrote before, I started taking a walk in the neighborhood Shinjuku Central Park early in the morning.
On holidays I may visit several times a day. I also visited today.

The main reason is that the park has been maintained. the lawn has been set up, and a nice building for people to gather. Starbucks was also added.

15年前に引っ越してきたとき、この公園は木々が鬱蒼と茂っていて、設備も古く、ゆっくりと散歩する気分には、なれませんでした。
芝生の上で人々が寝ころび、ベビーカーの親子連れが休日を楽しんでいる。15年前のあの公園と同じ場所とは思えません。

When I moved 15 years ago, the park was full of trees, old equipment, and I couldn't feel like relaxing and taking a walk.
Nowadays, people lie on the grass in the park and families with strollers enjoy their holidays. I don't believe it's the same place as that park 15 years ago.

「新宿」という地名には、「宿」という意味が含まれています。
新宿は、江戸時代（1603～1867）に宿場町（主要街道沿いにある、宿屋を中心として栄えたエリア）が開かれて以降、盛り場として発展してきたという歴史があります。
現在の、新宿中央公園のある「西新宿」は、そのエリアの西の外れです。

Shinjuku is a famous downtown area in Tokyo.The place name includes "juku", the meaning "inn".
In the Edo period (1603-1867), Shinjuku has developed as a "SHUKUBA",there were a lot of inns centered along the main road.
At present, "Nishi Shinjuku", which has Shinjuku Central Park, is the western edge of the area.

ちなみに、西新宿エリアは、明治時代には東京都水道局の浄水場、淀橋浄水場（1898開通～1965年廃止）が作られ、その跡地は1970年代に「新宿新都心」と呼ばれる、高層ビル群が立ち並ぶエリアになりました。東京都庁舎が竣工したのは1990年のこと。
2000年代にはタワーマンションも多く建設され、生活の場にもなっています。

After that, in the late 1900's, the Nishi-Shinjuku area, there was once a water purification plant of the Tokyo Waterworks Bureau, the Yodobashi Purification Plant （1898 opened-closed in 1965).
In 1970's, the site has become an area called "Shinjuku Shintoshin,"which is lined with skyscrapers.The Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building was completed in 1990.
Then,in 2000's, tower condominiums have been constructed and have become a place of living.

新宿中央公園のリニューアルには、民間企業が携わり、そのコンセプトは多くの人々が憩い、交流が生まれる「宿場町の縁側空間」を再生する、というものでした。
それによって2020年7月に、SHUKNOVAが開業し、芝生の整備なども新たに行われたました。
今の賑わいを見ていると、計画は大成功だったということです。

A private company was involved in the renewal of Shinjuku Central Park. The concept was to recreate a place like SHKUBA, where many people relax and interact with each other.
As a result, the place "SHUKNOVA" opened in July 2020, and the lawn was also maintained.
Looking at the crowds gathering, it can say the plan had a great success.

SHUKNOVAの2階には、芝生を見渡してくつろげる場所があります。wi-fiも入りますので、人のいない時間にここでくつろぐのもお勧めです。

On the second floor of SHUKNOVA, there is a place where you can relax and look out over the lawn. Free wi-fi is also available, so I recommend you to relax here when there aren't many people.

公園の変遷を見てきてつくづく思うことは、居心地のいい場所を作れば、人は集まるのだな、ということです。

Learning from this change, if you create a cozy place, people will gather.

近年、サードプレイスという、「家庭でも職場でもない、第三の居場所」という概念が流行して、今はすっかり、人々の中に定着しました。

In recent years, the concept of “third place”, “a third place to stay, neither at home nor at work” has become popular.

ところで、仮想空間ではありますが、@steemitblogも居場所ですし、今回の#thediarygameはそこでさらに出逢いを作れる機会。

Although it's a virtual space, @steemitblog is where we live,too. And this time, #thediarygame is an opportunity to make new friends.

#thediarygameの新しいシーズンが始まるのに際して、「居心地のいい居場所」という連想から、「素敵に変貌を遂げた近所の公園」のことが、どうも思い浮かんできます。
現実、仮想を問わず、居心地のいい場所で人々が自由に集い、そこで素敵な出逢いが生まれますように。

The new season of #thediarygame is about to begin. And for me, the idea of "a comfortable place to stay" remaind me "a nicely changed neighborhood park". ..
Whether it's real or virtual, it's great that people are free to come together in a cozy place. May a wonderful encounter be born there.
