A steampunk -pinoy rendition of one of the Major Arcana of a Tarot Card, III The Priestess

Last year, team called Steampunk Indio showcased another exhibit with the theme of steampunk and post-colonial to hispanic Filipino time and culture-based Tarot cards. I chose card number I and III which are The Magician and The Priestess.

I used an image of a Babaylan as the priestess to show her mysticity and glory especially in the old Philippine tribes. Babaylans are one of the most [powerful and respected public figure in a community. They also cure diseases using herbal medicine and gives advice to her respective community.

"Babaylan (also balian or katalonan, among many other names) were shamans of the various ethnic groups of the pre-colonial Philippine islands. These shamans specialized in communicating, appeasing, or harnessing the spirits of the dead and the spirits of nature. They were almost always women or feminized men (asog or bayok). They were believed to have spirit guides, by which they could contact and interact with the spirits and deities (anito or diwata) and the spirit world. Their primary role were as mediums during pag-anito séance rituals. There were also various subtypes of babaylan specializing in the arts of healing and herbalism, divination, and sorcery."

This modern priestess of tarot is very interesting. It attracts me the male figure behind her (very strong presence).

In figure 7 you let see some feet. Are your feet? Do you paint with your feet? I ask this question out of curiosity. I do philanthropy with a group called Painters with their mouths and feet and they do spectacular paint jobs.
It has been a pleasure to look at your artistic work @aalagenesis

You saw my feet, I'm sorry.
It just caught in the camera haha I paint on the floor most of the time, and I use my hands.

I love people who create something despite of their disabilities , i believe they are super human :)

I would love to see that group. Do you have some website or page?

hahahaha...Your feet look cute.
The group that I help do not know page.
However, I leave this link APBP whose work is similar to the Venezuelan group https://pintoresbocapie.com/
The page is in Spanish

Thank you for the complementing my artwork :)

The male figure behind her is called ANITO. You might want to check it out, Anitos are the ancestors spirits in the precolonial era of the Philippines. There are still Anito figures in the northern parts of our country.

My favvvve!
