The God Emperor Of Mankind

The Emperor of Mankind (commonly referred to as simply The Emperor) is an immortal being who serves as the reigning monarch of The Imperium of Mankind. Referred to as The Anathema by the Chaos gods and the daemons of the warp, he is the embodiment of hope, light and universal order in the galaxy. He sacrificed his immortal life in service to and protection of humanity at the end of a period known as “The Horus Heresy”.

Today, the Emperor lies immobile, shattered and broken. His all but lifeless husk sits atop the Golden Throne within the Imperial Palace on Holy Terra, where he has been for over 10,000 standard years. His decaying, crumbling body no longer able to support life, he is only kept alive through the life support mechanisms of the Golden Throne and the daily sacrifice of thousands of human psykers.

To countless trillions of humans living within the Imperium, he is a god.

Though he is no longer reactive to external stimuli, the Emperor still guides humanity through psychic whispers, without which humanity would surely fall.

Currently, the mechanisms of the Golden Throne are failing and it requires increasingly large numbers of psykers to sacrifice themselves daily to simply keep our beloved God Emperor “alive”. Lacking the knowledge or the technology, the Cult Mechanicus can no longer repair (let alone maintain) the Golden Throne.

It is only a matter of time before the Golden Throne completely fails and the God Emperor of Mankind perishes... Leaving the countless trillions of humans in the Imperium once again, alone in the grim darkness of the 41st millennium where there is only war.
