Vegan Bodybuilders Need More Protein

in #106 years ago

Perhaps I am not saying that there are no options for vegans to become Mr. Olympia competitors but as for right now. Since the start of bodybuilding, people on the highest level of bodybuilding are meat eaters simply because they require a ton of protein. Yes people will say they are on steroids or other substances, it does not matter because I have worked with steroids users. I have worked with natural guys. Two grams of protein is the bear minimum, but if you are on steroids then you can go up to four or five grams. If you must depend on genetics, those natural lifters, vegan or no, you'll need at least two grams of protein. I mean two grams of high quality protein. This brings me to the last subject that I want to talk about which is protein sources. Guys if you just consume seitan or you just eat textured soy protein these really don't have a complete amino acid profile. What that means is that all plants amino acid but in which ratio, you need a specific amount of those BCAAs for those muscle mass building amino acids. I'm perhaps not saying it is impossible however you need to ensure that you get a variety of whole foods especially if you're a hard gainer. It is more important if your genetics are not working with you to be a hard gainer or giving you the progress. Pay attention to high-quality protein sources and supplements as well. Many vegans won't get sufficient protein without a supplement. I'm not saying it is impossible because I did it without, yes I did it. The majority of vegans nowadays aren't getting sufficient protein set for optimized performance. Once again perhaps it is not about health despite the fact that I might argue that an 80/10/10 diet isn't the healthiest diet. This topic is for another time. However, for bodybuilding 80/10/10 doesn't work at all. You have to started higher amounts of proteins. You need higher quality proteins and therefore a protein powder can be really helpful for most people. Before ending this article, I just want to put yet another thing in here and that is the eating window. The intermittent fasting used to do it myself, it works for a lot of people but it works perfect for maintaining the body. If you want to build muscle, you will need high nitrogen balance. You may ask, what is nitrogen balance? Nitrogen balance is the saturation of amino acid in your bloodstream. This means that you want a consistent stream of amino acid in your bloodstream so your body can absorb it and repair the muscle tissue. If you do not have any protein floating round and if you do not have amino acids floating around in your bloodstream the human body needs to get protein out of itself. In this case, you will be getting into a catabolic state where the body starts absorbing proteins out of your muscle’s cell, hence no muscle growth. The opposite of this is when you're anabolic. You're not building muscles, you are catabolic and you're destroying the muscle. Therefore one meal a day works if you want to make gains or if you want to maintain weight. Intermittent fasting, yes I did it all for bulking from gaining or for preserving as much muscle as possible. Really, you want a constant amino acid stream, a stream of high quality protein from breakfast to the last meal. That could be anywhere from four to eight smaller meals where you constantly feed your body every two to three hours with 30 to 50 grams of proteins approximately. With that you have enough protein synthesis and high nitrogen balance. This will help you make those gains. This is how it works.
