Covelite

The ship "Lady Sin" has been anchored there for the last fortnight. When she first entered our cove her sails were glistening from being sprayed by the outer reefs surf, and her hull was heavy laden with treasure from a far off land. Our local constable was the first to inspect the cargo, and quickly had his men assist Captain Ya'qub's crew in unloading the goods. Our town celebrated that very night growing richer as the hours wore on. Rugs and spices from the Far-East, the finest linens from the artisans of Europe, and one large silver plated chest were all promptly brought to the Governor's Estate. The next day Lady Sin's crew dropped anchor one-hundred yards off of our fair-town "Covelite", in the deep waters where the fisherman have often seen large blue sharks; and we thought nothing of Lady Sin's crew or her mysterious captain. It wasn't until the fisherman came back with stories of the waters around her hull growing red under the full-moon, that we feared Lady Sin's crew may have committed mutiny; and being that the Governor's Estate had grown erringly quiet in the fortnight since her arrival we thought it best to keep up normal appearances. So we went along with our usual business, only stopping to gather at the local eateries near sundown. Meanwhile, the fisherman's tales told of the waters growing ever redder near Lady Sin's hull; and the only light at the Governor's Estate was a sole-candle, burning in the Governor's study...
