What role will developing cryptocurrencies play in SCM in the future?

This is my first post on Steemit and I cannot wait to blog more!

In a Supply Chain Management class of mine, I wrote a discussion post regarding VeChain and its potenital with Supply Chain Management (SCM). What is your feedback?

Here is the post:
Before I start to explain the significance of VeChain, I want you to know, researching and understanding cryptocurrencies is a pastime of mine. I enjoy seeing the evolution of technology before my eyes and I want to be part of its expansion.

Good, the disclaimer is out of the way, now lets get to the topic!
VeChain was created by Sunny Lu in 2015. For you all who are unaware of who he is, Sunny Lu was the CIO of Louis Vuitton before he left the luxury brand company to develop and create VeChain.
VeChain is described as "a blockchain for creating efficiencies across supply-chain management and logistic processes." (Pretty basic right?)
Let me expand on this quote. VeChain is a blockchain technology that can be dissected into two separate groups.

1. VeChain Token ($VET) is the cryptocurrency traded in terms of value across the blockchain network (similar to Bitcoin, Ethereum, Litecoin, ect. in terms of value tokens)
2. VeChain Thor ($VTHO) is the cryptocurrency that is VeChain's "gas" for transactions. For example, I need to send money to somebody from my bank account, there is a fee to execute that transaction. The fee is VeChain Thor.
   Simplification: VeChain Token is the asset of value. VeChain Thor is needed to send the asset of value.
   VeChain's inception came from Singapore to track the validation of luxury goods to prevent counterfeits. (I hope you're seeing where is going).
   Applications of VeChain include the following:
   1. Anti-counterfeiting software that helps traceability within goods being created, and transacted. (starting off with tracing Luxury goods)
   2. Implementing data-driven solutions within blockchain technology for businesses
   3. Data collection through the Internet of Things (IoT)
   4. An unchangeable ledger that allows free transfer of value (using VTHO)
   5. Solve Supply Chain Deficiencies and the elimination of fraud (can be huge in the food industry, look back at my previous discussion post if you want to read up on fruit supply chain management)
      Areas VeChain can help the current supply chain system:
   6. Food or beverage businesses: Companies can allow the packed food or beverages to be labeled with a QR Code (look up Square if you don't know what a QR (Quick Response Code is)) that shows the customers all desired information regarding the product (location, inspection, dates, ingredients, ect.). This will improve transparency with the product or service being bought.
   7. Digital Vehicle Management: Uber has shown increased interest in their vehicle management. This will improve the transparency with financial institutions, vehicle manufacturers, insurance providers, vehicle repair businesses, ect.
   8. Luxury Goods Market: As previously stated, VeChain can improve the luxury goods markets by securing a form of validation digitally and to trace products that have been lost or stolen or counterfeit.
      With all this being said, the cryptocurrency is still relatively young and shows extreme potential. If cryptocurrency adoption stays on the track it is at currently, VeChain could become a significant part of validating, securing and completing transactions in regard to Supply Chain Management.
