Recipe of the Day, Week No. 14: Akara (beans cake)
Greetings great chef, trust you are doing well, I want to share with you my recipe for the day and how I prepared it. It came out funny but don't laugh at me hahaha
So I decided to prepare akara (beans cake) for breakfast it is actually easy to prepare with no much steps and it is something you can enjoy it with different carbohydrates or any other meal. Such as pap, rice, oat, bread, custard, etc. So you can actually make your choice of what you will eat it with and enjoy your akara.
Let me list out my ingredients used.
- Beans
- Onion
- Pepper
- Salt
- Seasoning cubes
- Vegetable oil
Please note that there is actually a particular beans used in preparing this akara and it is called akara beans it is a little starchy than other beans, but in this my preparation I used brown beans.
PREPARATION STEPS
First; I soaked my beans and wash off the peels with water, I think this is the most hardest part because it takes more than an hour for me to complete this part. I washed it till the beans skin was completely off.
Ready to be blended
Second; I washed my pepper and onion chopped the onion and add it to my ready beans to be blended.
Third; my pase was ready and it looks very yummy and with a flashes or reflection of re and green colour from the pepper. So I added my seasonings and turn it evenly.
Fourth; I get my frypan ready, place it on fire and start frying my akara. It actually comes out crunchy and floppy but the shapes didn't really give me what I wanted but the taste was yummy.
Akara is ready
We enjoyed the taste
I took it with bread and tea
Akara is a delicious meal that can be prepared for the family to enjoy breakfast also it is good for kids too. One of the mostly roadside food you can see in the morning in my area is akara but also preparing it at home helps eat good akara prepared in a serene environment.
I will like to invite @adylinah @dequeen and @ruthjoe to take part in this contest. Probably you guys should have an idea why my akara has this shape I'm waiting for correction.
